Led Zeppelin sucks

I always get an icky record industry pre-fab vibe from Led Zeppelin. However, Anytime I have listened to the records I realize my preconceived notion is just that of a snooty contrarian.

You just won’t hear me singing their praises aloud.

The Who however is straight garbage. The Stones wanted so much to be anything other than British, and I found their fascination in emulating American Blues tiresome. I do like them, but they exist as a stylistic doppelgänger of their black influences.

The Beatles covered so much ground sonically that it’s almost foolish to write them off entirely.

To me the Kinks were #1, with the Beatles a close second. The Kinks were so entirely authentic in the way in which they exude “Britishness”. It never felt like they wanted to be anything other than what they are, and the body of work in my opinion deserves its place amongst the conventional conversation.

I don’t dislike Led Zeppelin’s body of work. I feel like it’s pretty unimpeachable, my issue is more my own in how I’ve always viewed them. Each member is monstrous at their respective instrument, and John Bonham played the drums more emotive than anyone of his era.

The Who I just feel like doesn’t offer much beyond their singles.

Unpopular opinion: I like the The Beatles, The Stones, The Kinks, The Who, The Zombies, and even though I’d never make any effort to listen to them (and would never have to make any effort to because they’ve been force fed down my throat for 40 years by Classic Rock radio) will admit that Led Zeppelin has some good songs (and amazing riffs).
