Went back and listened to a lot of Get Rich or Die Tryin and The Massacre and rediscovered my love for 50 Cent. I remember wanting to be him so bad at one point. When I was 17 or so I started hating 50 Cent and music alike and got all into "lyrical" rap for a bit and had the most pretentious and obnoxious attitude towards anything that wasn't like that. Thankful I never maintained that outlook cuz those people are the worst to talk to when it comes to music.

I was all about 50 cent when that album came out, times really change haha. Also don't think this counts but i overheard a jagged edge song as i skated past a car dealership today, stopped for a minute to have a listen and some dude stink eyed me so i carried on my way

been on a power pop kick lately, but I will save those links for another day.

I've always dug "regional scenes", like when a certain part of the country gets hot for a year or two and there's an endless stream of great bands that get pumped out (and they all have a particular sound).

really into the early 90's lo-fi/garage/punk scene in Ohio, so many great bands at that time.

this song came on college radio, i guess it segues into a kid's show on saturdays but it's so catchy i've had it in my head intermittently for months. found out who it is today, thanks modern world!!!!!!

I'm about to download that song so I can play it into work. Feel like that song might pump me up for a job I hate. I have to pack my backpack every morning too.

Sonic Youth - Titanium Expose

Been listening to "goo" a lot. Here's my favorite track from it.

Such a good record, one of the best. I love how they punked everyone by dropping de la soul is dead too. I personally could have listened to one more "daisy age" record.

I'm not even listening to that song cause I avoid drake as much as I can, but her song on the new Kanye is good

And yeah, that De La record is amazing obviously

But guy don't judge modern music off one song that's popular this week. There's contemporary people/groups making innovative and progressive music in every genre, all the time. Almost too much really, it's hard to keep track. And hell, sometimes there's even some pop/songs that get real popular, that still kinda kill it.

Tell me some stuff you like, and I bet I could turn you onto some stuff that came out in 2015 you'd be into.

Yeah I know. The problem with modern music is that it hasn't been filtrated like the music for past decades where you know whats the good stuff because all the shitty music has been forgotten. Lately I've been in this kind of African music but if you know some good Bauhaus like stuff I'm always interested!

Only Bauhaus I listened to was half of "she's in parties" right now, so i don't know how representative it is of their overall sound, but you might like this. Some similar elements, but it's more intense than that song at least.

I might just want another excuse to post this song, cause I put it in the shoegaze thread too

As far as keeping up on music, the quietus and drownedinsound are pretty solid sites. I like tinymixtapes  too, but sometimes they're annoying

Yea thats the rite esg. My friend said that its 'no wave' - I thought that name for a genre was neat.

It's been years since I have listened to Broadcast but the past two week I have been on a huge kick. I can put on Tender Buttons or Haha Sound without skipping a track.

I'm bummed to just hear about the passing of Andrew Loomis, former drummer for the almighty Dead Moon.  I never really understand why people loved this band so much, UNTIL i saw them play live in Chicago about 10 years ago... without a doubt one of my top two shows I've ever seen.  Amazing band and amazing drummer... when he did the beer on the drums/candle light thing it brought the roof down.  RIP

Hot shit Boston punk/rock and roll grit, before the scene turned to bonehead hardcore.

mere words cannot explain how rad this song is:

Also this video... My favorite Beach Boys song covered by a Dictator, with the hot jew babes who started Manic Panic singing backup.  So good!
