Death - For The Whole World To See.

All black band recorded 7 songs in the early 70's.  No record labels would release their music because their band name, DEATH, was considered too controversial.  Only 500 copies were ever made.  They were recently discovered and their album was finally released this year.    It's good.  You'll recognize the first song from Gang of Fourstar.

I've been working on a 1975 Chrysler Newport all day and have had a pretty decent playlist during the afternoon. I've really been feeling this track at the moment. I can't get enough of beats like this. I had this blastin' loud in the garage. Head nod shit. Check the Smif N Wessun sample.

Falcon & Sleepy feat. Timbuktu-Lifestress 1996

I'm over and out. Give it a listen.

pretty much anything on Analog Africa is gold, especially the stuff focusing on Francophile West Africa.
a little blogspot search will probably yield mp3s for the African Scream Contest   and Legends Of Benin comps.
ASC has Orchestre Poly-rhythmo all over it.
Analog Africa also has a video out there on the web for the track "Gbeti Madjro."
it's here:

http://analogafrica.blogspot.com/

There's a few other Orchestre Poly-Rhythmo comps out there of varying quality.
The Soundway Records "Kings Of Benin Urban Groove" is good, too.

and if you're interested in other African funk and soul, just look for stuff on the Soundway, Strut, and Honest Jon's record labels.

more cool mixes here-
