Smaller decks that aren't price point?

After buying venture lows I setup a old Ollie Todd Palace deck on them with 50m 101 f4s and it's the most fun I've had in ages. All flip tricks are a dream, most ledge tricks too.

As we all know boards this size were common place but the current trend is larger decks. I'm still gonna ride an 8-8.25 on my Indy 139s. But I'm obsessed with this deck at the moment.

My fear is that when this deck goes. Finding a quality deck (generator preferably or PS) that is so thin and has such small WB is gonna be hard. No one does decks like this unless they are PP decks. Anyone know brands producing quality decks this size at the moment?

Yes.  If you buy directly from the TOA website, you can sometimes get a deck of your choice in multiple size options, including 7.75 & 7.875

if you’re looking for under 14” wheelbase, and under 31.5, all dwindle, Crailtap, theories brands, mini Logo, alien + habitat, have several options for 7.5-7.875.
If you’re willing to go up to 14, you can skate pretty much any other board under 8. Personally I’m probably going to buy a politic 7.75 x 31.75 x 14 on south central wood soon

I skated these two and several similar last year/early this year one is a daewon almost
the other is probably a mickey papa or tj Rogers or something gross..  but the R7 boards are quite nice

If you're planning to order online and you're east coast I'd recommend hitting up Damon at Library skate shop. He's one of the politic guys and he's cool as hell so he can answer any questions you might have about their stuff. He also sometimes does smaller politic completes with ventures and good wheels for like $90 if anyone wants a full retro setup to practice their illusion and varial flips.

Art Hellman recommended Rustoleum ultra cover 2x paint and primer
 and I've been using it ever since..

I probably wouldn't bother using anything else it's that good haha
 
Yeah but for a quick cover you want a paint and primer in one.. much better for this sort of thing than regular spray paint

For real. I ONLY skate the Anti Hero green eagle 7.81. I'd like to actually go down a notch but I don't like many of the companies that are making smaller. I missed out on a Traffic 7.63 and I regret that every day!

I ordered a Primitive 7.6 and an Element 7.75 last week, neither were pricepoint but unfortunately they were purchased direct instead of through a shop. I couldn't find sub 8" boards on shop sites that weren't shop decks.

I haven’t gotten to see any small shapes in hand, since before the pandemic: most shops didn’t have small boards out, when they were open.
What’s odd, and reminding me to go back to boards in this general size range, is that pretty much any 7.75 works, for me.
Looking forward to seeing more options posted here.
Some of my favorite smaller boards I’ve had recently are: 7.75 Ishod, 7.5 jovontae (this starts feeling too small), some 7.8 HiTeks, and just some 7.75 shop decks from the 35ths.

31” is honestly a little short, and I’m short, with shorter legs. I remember a Clyde 23 deck that was 30.5” (I think) and I was at peak muska-flip/‘hardflip’ throwing stage, it was cool for that, but broke after I wilsoned myself many times.
31.25”-31.5” is ideal, but I’d be cool with some narrower, longer boards. In my weekly reviewing of the Keenan switch flip, his board looks decently long, long ish tail/nose, flat, ideal.
I’m gonna wait for some small company (hopefully) to drop a 7.8 ish board. My last few 7.75s/7.8s I used 8” trucks, and I think 5.0 is where it’s at.

To the folks who threw out freestyle decks: no. 7.75 is a really functional size, some of the most ‘iconic’ shit from the 90s is on that size board. I get that current fashion dictates a larger size, all good.

7.25” isn’t a skateboard, for adults. Much like the freestyle deck hate, this probably seems arbitrary, but even at my peak board specificity, sub 7.4 (that one kalis/wenning, and there was maybe a menace ams deck that I didn’t get but wanted) was out. Now 7.5s are fun for a moment, but feel less functional. ‘But Louie rides a 7.37x30”!’ Exactly, dont.
