What the fuck is going on at DLX?
« on: June 30, 2020, 10:14:49 PM »
This post might have outdated it self, as I have just seen AH, Krooked and Real completes just show up on Socalskateshop; but seriously, I have not seen a drop from DLX in a couple of months. Covid/trade issues? Fuck, I've seen a bunch of Creature decks lately- They're made in China, DLX is manufactured in Mexico, correct?

They’re blessed to have Frank as a spokesperson; I’m sure they’re aware of that.

Awesome. Once again, I'm late to the party.  I'm fine with that in this instance.

These DLX completes just fly off the shelves at my local shop. Good for them!
Offering a good quality complete is certainly a good thing. I'd rather have kids buying one of the DLX completes than getting one at a discounter for 40$. That's what I had to deal with when I was a kid, cause all you could buy was a very expensive board, put together by individual parts, and parents unfortunately aren't willing to pay that much, when you're just starting out.

Are all deluxe boards generally the same in terms of quality? Leaving out any price point or premium ones they offer, of course. The last deluxe board I had was a real, it felt awesome but I snapped it on the second sesh. I never snap boards early like that, so it kinda made me wonder. I usually skate boards made by drifter mfg. They don't feel quite as nice, but I never break them that early.

I skate Krooked boards religiously and 10 years ago I skated nothing but Anti Hero. They all worked fine. I’ve had maybe 4 REAL boards and have either cracked , or chipped each of them during the first day. I have no idea how that works.

Interesting, I really like krooked and anti-hero, gonna give them a shot. To be honest, the real kinda turned me off deluxe.

Would love a Grosso Plastics board... MFers bought those up quick and flipped them on Ebay. I hope this video means they are still in production and heading to skate shop shelves....

Look at the hashtags on Instagram. A lot of shops don’t have a huge online presence but might have that deck.
I remember snatching one up at the first shop to post it just because I knew the flippers would be on top of that one. If I come across another one I’ll hit you up

It’s interesting you say that, literally the only Real board I’ve ever had snapped after a friend tried one treflip. We were both baffled.

Y’all do know that DLX has a pretty solid warrantee program, right?
If that thing breaks early, follow the instructions on the card that came shrink wrapped w/ your deck (or also on the website) & roll the dice. They’re chill about replacing shit if it’s actually defective and not just a shit landing by a big boy. Pretty easy to tell the diff.
As for wood, it’s all BBS (REAL/AH/KRKD) except for the completes. Word has it those decks are China, but better to get the specifics on that info from somebody who knows more than ol’ Lou.
There are a few DLX employees that lurk up on here if I’m not mistaken; maybe one of them can clarify.

The cards haven’t been in DLX boards in nearly a decade. I almost forgot that was even a thing.

Have been lucky enough to not have to pay for a Deluxe branded board since ‘99 (thank you, good homies!) so I don’t really know about their current state of packaging. Probably shouldn’t have spoken on the matter in the 1st place, TBH.
Still, that BBS wood shop is still one of my favorites though.

Doesn’t mean I don’t pay for other stuff.
Beefs, cop or not, you ARE aware there are other companies for me to give money to, yeah?!?
I’ve been around the local scene here in the bay for long enough that I don’t have to pay for product if I don’t want to. That DOES mean that my choices are limited to the “Local Area Network” so to speak, but if I can find a shape I like in the DLX line up, I can make a call. Not a status thing to boast about so much as a byproduct of being active in a scene for nearly 4 decades. Way I see it, Beefs, you need to make some new friends on the inside. Once you reach a certain age, if you haven’t figured out how to wrangle free (or at least at cost) product, you may not have been putting in the work.
Not going to apologize to you for being part of a scene that doesn’t have a problem hooking an old bruh up when he needs something.
Just so you understand my first point in this reply, all five current setups are on non DLX wood, some have non DLX metal & urarhane as well. the four back up boards on ice  also happen to be non DLX. And guess what... I paid for ‘em. Admittedly, with a discount, but that’s not relevant to my point. Why pay when free is a phone call away? Because I’m picky about my set up & DLX stopped running my favorite shape for a while, so...
I won’t hold my breath for an apology from you, bless your little heart.
