I have never noticed the difference between one set of trucks and another.

where can one get the bust crew ventures? also which ventures have which height? their trucks are very confusing.

With standard (cast) baseplates; lows are 48mm, highs are 53.5mm. I think that's the same across all sizes, but I'm not 100% sure. Forged baseplates will be about 1mm lower, and will push your wheelbase out a little more (according to the truck setups thread). The Bust Crew ones come in 5.2, 5.6, and 5.8; high only. Size chart below for the widths:

I'll take this back and reveal my cluelessness further.
When I first started skating, all my friends emphasized the importance of having lighter trucks (I guess so you could ollie higher). For my first legit setup, the shop guy recommended I get Indys, so I did. But, comparing them with my friend's trucks (Ventures) at the next session, I realized that my Indys were way heavier. Next time I could afford a new setup I got Tensors, in part because I liked their ads in 411, and in part because they were the lightest and had that plastic slider thing. Skated those for years.

Beyond my early concerns with truck weight, I've never thought about performance. Maybe I just never got good enough to notice the difference.

It always seems like the scrappiest kids skated Destructos and often had them rigged up in weird ways, or with mixed parts. I always thought that was kind of a rad look.

people still say ventures don't turn... maybe i'm lucky but my ventures turn as good as my indys did before. they are stiffer in the sense that they don't wobble around, it takes more initial pressure to get the turn going so i feel like you can be a bit more heavy footed, but still have sort of the same agility as with indys, but probably not as much as with thunders or aces. for me it's like riding indys with less likelyhood of wheelbite and more stability when doing mannies and grinds while being slightly lighter at the same time. i was ready to be disappointed and buy a set of ace if i wouldn't like them but i think ventures are great.

Riding 2 pairs of 5.0's now (on two seperate decks of course) and I'm loving them more than my indy's.

They turn well, but feel more 'stable'? I can't explain it...

Personally I never really gave a shit about trucks that much either? I used to just ride Thunders exclusively because they were light but I repeatedly broke hangers... and I'm 5'6" and this was when I was much lighter... like 140-145 pounds. Seemed ridiculous and I'd never broke any before and haven't since. Now I just ride Indy's because everyone told me to and I like them well enough and don't want to have to buy and try different kinds.

I’m currently riding ventures and so is my 4 year old.  He has no complaints but thinks I should Ollie higher and grind rails.  I’m working on my flexibility but I won’t be pursuing his handrail advice

Ventures turn better than Indys. ... There i said it. Also stable as fuck and in my honest humble experience, wear down slower.... Which is a good thing considering the low grind clearance.

Yeah I checked there after I posted, they got a pretty big DLX drop in general from what it looks like just in case anyones looking for ventures/thunders/spits.

This is pretty much my experience too.

A 8.5 with a 14.5 WB has the same natural WB with Ace44s as a venture cast on a 8.38 clutch with 14.25 WB.

That seems to be my zone. I pop much higher on the ventures turn better on the aces.

I definitely prefer the 5.6 over the 44 as of late.

Hopefully my feet will be better tomorrow and I'll be going to the ditch painting a piece for Kieth Mise 156.

Recently I bought some hollow Indys and really like them. They are super lite

Gilbert rules and is just making a joke because some of his close friends ride for Venture. It seems he rides for them now too.

Venture is by far the best truck company, Ace is probably the worst. They just ripped off destructo and not to mention the name Ace is just terrible

Does anyone think venture trucks suck on coping? When they are new, they just dont act like thunders or indys. I mean like less surface area or something. . .

Can someone please elaborate why the measurements are taken on the axle and not on the hanger? Is it not the hanger that defines the truck width? This is not new to me but i have always been wondering and thought i would ask.

The hanger is the area you have to grind on but the axle is what goes to the edge of your board, and what you have to make sure is the correct width
