Late to this, but went to Skate Samples today and saw that message. It's lame that they were bullied into only selling to businesses.

I refuse to believe that blanks caused a major hit to shops and brands. Instead of pushing $80 decks, major companies should make some with minimal graphics for $50-$60. Like The Heated Wheel.

agree. it's hard to find the size I need at all, let alone finding one with a halfway decent graphic

my last skate samples order I ordered the G90 which is 9x33 with 15wb. They actually sent me a deck that's 9x32.25 and 14.5 or 14.6wb. Does anyone know what deck this is? I don't see it as one of the options so not sure how i even got it. It's definitely 9 wide

When I made my last order someone from generator emailed me and asked which WB I wanted on the 9". So I guess they have another option thats not advertised?

A few people including Dave from 35th Ave shop had been talking about the new shape, specifically that people wanted shorter but still wider boards, so they were bringing out a few more, maybe the same shape that Black Label and others have already adapted for their own, but the market is definitely going for shorter overall length and wheelbase of late.

I guess in some instances, they forgot to mention this, but in others they had made contact as people might not realise there were options in the 9" boards.

* Also I get it that the industry is trying to support local shops, but that sometimes there is not a local shop worth supporting, but besides that, anyone can ask their local to get in boards for them too - that was the whole point of the change.

I am curious how much more the shop would charge for the boards though, especially if they are just blanks instead of shop graphic or something else.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Anyone tried the new skate warehouse blanks? Wondering if the made in the USA means they’re hlc. Interested in trying one.

Wondering how many companies are going to be using hlc with the tariff situation. The only brand I know of that’s using them is Roger but I never know if I’m gonna get an older clutch board (which are the only boards I’ve broken). I figure I wanna see how they are in case things get super expensive with bbs decks.

Not excited to skate natural ply though.

I miss skate samples so much. Only have two more of the last five pack I bought. Love the 8.5s shape.

Me and xen both had them a couple pages back, they are HLC, but Roger isn’t the only bloard company using them, sk8mafia, plan b, flip, and a couple others, the one I had skated well, I liked the natty ply, I don’t skate shovel noses and I like they had a nice nose and tail on them

Awesome thanks for the response. Still gonna be on the lookout for sale bbs but maybe I’ll try one of the 25 dollar blanks skatewarehouse has.

I scooped one of those today, fuck it. I'm usually not a fan of natural but the orange stripe I guess makes it look less cheap and that's cool it's usa wood. they're all the same 14.2 wheelbase which isn't too long. $54 after shipping and grip not too bad.

Anyone got an update on the skatesamples.com site, or if they have removed the special conditions and now anyone can order again?

Saw someone ask in the Woodshop thread, but the last I had checked it as per info above, they had imposed limitations on who could order.

Thanks!

I wonder what happened - first selling too many to the general public, had push back from shops, so stopped selling to general public, maybe needed more sales, so started selling to general public again to make up for lost sales or whatever?

Any which way, I guess the average person can now still get some good blank boards at reasonable prices in many different shapes, which might not please some people, but should make many others happy.

I went to the site and it looks like they are only doing single board sales rather than the 5 pack so maybe they just cut back a bit

I think I saw somewhere the new shorter 9 is about the same as the Black Label standard cut 9" board.

https://www.blacklabelskates.com/product/wade-speyer-eagle-85-875-90

9.0" x 32.62" 14.5” wheelbase

Dimensions are approximately 9.0 x 32.6 (32.5 some have it listed as) with a 7" nose and 6.65" tail (6.8" tail from one) and 14.5 or 14.6 wb on it.

https://skatesamples.com/products/blank-deck-premium-2-dye

Their bigger boards, as well as the short options still have about the same length kicks, just the shorter wheelbase and overall length, but as they don't have it listed, I think someone had said they emailed and got the new info that way too.

That makes sense - keeping it a little more low key, but people can still order more if they want to.

If this is the same 9.0 that the heated wheel and black label use then I've gotten different measurements as well. Mine ended up being 9.0/32.5/14.5/7.25 N/7.0 T.

Seems like it is the same board.

Was that measured with the concave or flat across?  I get those measurements when I go with the concave, but I think someone else I know got closer to 7 nose and 6.7 or so tail flat across, but any which way, even just going by length and wheelbase, that is that board.

I just don't see very many of them around, compared to the orange eagle / common 9 x 33 with 15 wb shape anyway.

* Even looking up Heated Wheel boards, there is not a lot of info out there, maybe the most on their actual site.

https://theheatedwheel.com/collections/skateboards/products/grasshopper-team-model-assorted-sizes

The 8.75 I recall seeing people post before - long kicks on that one.

8.75 x 32.5 - 14.25 WB

9.0 x 32.75 - 14.5 WB

8.75 x 32.5 - 14.25 WB

9.0 x 32.75 - 14.5 WB

I measured straight across and got those numbers. I've seen at least three different measurements for that same board haha. I don't think any brand has it labeled correctly but it's a great shape regardless. I've skated one anti-hero orange eagle and it felt like a snowboard, just too cumbersome to do any kind of street skating on it yet this shape is a little bit more manageable. I've also skated that heated wheel 8.75 and really liked it. I'm actually thinking about making that my next deck. I'm 6'3 with long legs so I like the longer length and kicks but that 14.25 wheelbase makes it really good for rotational flip tricks.

First I’m hearing about these, thanks for posting. I like boards with a mellow tail, like the mellow anpril/primitive 8.25. any chance you could measure the angle of the tail with your iPhone?

I think most shop boards in the UK are HLC, same with SkateDeluxe who use HLC and Quarter Distribution. If you don't mind some questionable graphics you can get some cheaper HLC decks from their B2C site (https://skatemenu.com/collections/outlet)

Stoked skate samples is shipping to custys again. Copped the 14" wheel base 8.25 to give it a shot, usually skate the 14.25 one. One of the last boards I got from them was unskateably warped, these ones are in good shape.

Not sure if this is the thread for clothing blanks but I went in on t-shirts from this place: https://www.blankshirts.com

Tried 6 different brands/models and landed on Bella/Canvas's 100% cotton 3001, sized up to XL and they shrink up nicely. If you're built like a real man or like a baggier fit Comfort Colors is the shit, just a little much for my girlish figure. Both are thick enough that the white tees don't showcase your nipples or chest hair and that's well important.
