Favourite spot
« on: December 18, 2020, 04:58:58 PM »
What are your favourite spots to see in videos/photos? Could be for any reason: aesthetics, gnar factor, whatever. Maybe a favourite trick there too?

I've always been partial to the Arco rails (my sig would indicate that haha). Something about the way they look just tickles my goat. Big fan of when someone gets both sets/rails in a line. The bigger rails are especially rad to see someone skate. Arto's tricks stand out, but the Heath slam is kind of a rad clip, and JT back 50-50 is awesome too. Edit: Was hyped to see Louie get the switch flip there in the new Cons video. (That is the spot right? Just the Rails are gold now and there isn't one in the middle?)

Honourable mentions:
Bricktown - Jim Greco backlip shuv the side no one skates, Chima sw back tail
Takeshi Stairs (I think that's what they're called?) - Mason half cab 50
Synagogue rail - Arto fs crook and kf fs board, AVE halfcab crook, Justin Henry front shuv crook, Freddie sw crook
Paul Rever 16 - Bastien with the gnarliest kf fs board of all time, John Cardiel smith, Sheckler 360 flip, Darrell sw back 180

There's probably a few more that I'll think of and add later

I found this online mag that lists most tricks done at some pretty famous spots. Pretty cool actually. They even make a little edit for each spot.

https://skatekrak.com/mag

Never heard of this site before though.

3up 3 down in San Fran. Its simple enough looking that everyone can relate to it but the stuff that's gone down is mind bottling...

Love Busenitz' mini part there.

I love seeing stuff go down at China Banks. This comes to mind

Also any trick taken all the way on the ledge at flushing is a serotonin booster for me. Hjalte's backtail bs heel and fsts front wheel were great.

Haha I forgot about that one. I had a friend who up until he was about 24 thought it was "bottling" so that's what made me question you.

There's this spot in Ann Arbor, MI that I once lived a few blocks from... I am struggling to think of its name, but it's a big bank to wall with a window ledge a few feet up the wall. You have to ollie up to get onto the bank... very hard to skate. Unless I'm mistaken, Dan Drehobl did a rock to fakie on the window ledge.

Any Michigan skaters know what I'm talking about? It's behind some kind of dormitory type building. It's definitely not a famous spot but it was a favorite, despite being really challenging to skate.

Edit- found the Drehobl footy:

All time favorite is the old union square with the green benches. Brown marble is neck and neck.
Currently it’s Emeryville high. Perfect blocks, close to my house, and no one skates there.

Not necessarily even my favourite spot but I love seeing people hit it and I can't for the life of me remember the name of it. It's like a bank that leads into an even steeper bank, almost as if you were to build a ramp by sticking two flat pieces of wood together to end up with something like this -

 \

It looks to be around SF and is in a narrow space too, the most notable trick I can recall being a back noseblunt and one additional detail I seem to recall about it is that no has yet to do anything to fakie on it. Lol this is gonna bug me until I figure it out now.

This is pure nostalgia, but whenever I see Pier 7, even current footage with the wooden platforms, it brings back some of the magic it had in the 90s. Lavar McBride’s Pro Files come to mind.

Trenton brick banks and Afro banks in Philly. Both have always been hard as fuck to skate and it blows my mind seeing people do anything on either

Always loved the way Wilshire 10 and 15 look lit up at night.
Arco rails(above user has artos lipslide as a sig).
Love, City hall and Muni all look great but in that order.
Pyramid ledge in NYC.
Don’t know the name but the spot in Barcelona with the waves/ bump to bar, always enjoyed footage from there.
Really dig all those downtown Toronto spots that Bobby Dekeyzer skates they all look so good on footage and I’ve heard they’re all a bust.

Exelon / chase Plaza in Chicago. Most fun and coolest spot. Kalis had a few clips there recently I think on the ledges that were beautiful.

Edit: also Shanahan skated it recently along with another fav the post office ledges

The pyramid ledges. Got a hard on for that spot since seeing it for the first time in a 411 about 20 yrs ago. Still get said hard on seeing new footage there to this day
