Best tricks never done that were almost done
« on: February 12, 2021, 05:21:59 AM »
Title says it all. Best trick you heard went down or saw that was close to being made but wasnt rolled away from. Preferably ones that were way ahead of their time.

Here’s 2 examples:

Pops switchflip love a decade before ishod. At night.

At the top of courthouse drop in nyc (people skate into the bank or grind the ledge and pop into it then roll off.) there is a tall guardrail preventing you from skating into it straight on properly. People either ollie up from the side then in or I guess it’s a quick throwdown then pop from a slight angle.

In 2007 or 08 Jake Johnson did fs180 over the guardrail then fakie fs flip into the bank. Popped higher than a trashcan too. Did a bunch where he stepped off or landed too close to the steps. Eventually broke his board and was over it. Never heard about that one being tried after that. Never seen anyone else go over the rail before skating into it either.

Yall name some. Doesn’t gotta be pros, can def be the homies.

Did Vov ever land the loop at Baldy? If not, that.
Also I remember footage of I think Kalis coming super close to a straight nollie down LOVE which would have been really sick.

I know Jason Spivey landed on a ton of straight nollies, there’s a photo that exists of it. Never heard of Kalis, that woulda been wild

There was a promo for some am video many moons ago and someone locked in a noolie heel bs noseblunt but bailed it.

Never saw the video, never found out if it was a make. Was just a solid trick miles ahead of its time at that stage.

I hope my vagueness and lack of specifics or good info has been a good read.

I think this is Kalis at least, at about 54 seconds in.
Few other attempts at stuff in here, Tim O tries a nollie 180 just before.

my boy Ghost almost did front blunt kicklfip to fakie on that flat black handrail in far rockaway. rodent was shooting the sequence too, would have been ill to see that in thrasher back then when flipping out of rails was much more rare than it is now. he took a break for a minute but hes got new footage dropping soon hes been killing shit.
also for such an out of the way spot alot of pros have skated that far rock rail. feel like ive seen footage of fucking p-rod there. who took prod to far rock haha.

also jake was with us that day too and only tried it twice, but landed on and stepped off treflip bs noseslide down the same rail both tries. this was 2008 as well. good times watching that dude film for mindfield.

Also that Heath lipslide is really, really fucked up. Honestly I feel like if he couldn’t ride away from it, probably just wasn’t possible.

A few come to mind,
-Spanky's epicly laterd John Miner talks about a spot he tried to frontside flip for his ender in stay gold and never got (help me out here dont know the name).
-I've heard mentions of someone trying to big flip Wallenburg in a bunt interview, again cant remember the name of the skater but I know the spot this time.
-Chris Joslyn tre flip el torro if it hasn't been said.
-Rick Mccrank nollie hardflip carslbad would've been cool for the time

I thought Shier destroyed his ankle on the bail that is in the intro where he clips the fence in the opening of Waiting for the World.
