ethan fowler appreciation
« on: April 11, 2007, 02:47:31 PM »
basically ethan fowler has been one of my favorites forever now. i remember liking him a long time ago, and then purchasing the toy machine dvd set in like 2004 and always overlooking his part in live and everybody elses for that matter. nowadays i realize how good that part is, and in reality all ethan fowler footage has really been pretty good. i  wasn't really psyched on his thats life part at all minus his last backside 360 and a few tricks over the touch, but his new foundation part is actually really good and it definately showcases some of ethans best tricks. when you think of one trick ethan is really really good at, you think of all of them. backside 360s, tre flips, backside flips, frontside flips, back tails, back lips, nosegrinds, there are so many you can think of. his parts in art bars and madness and mayhem have also been some of my favorites as well. let's not forget his stereo parts, though; probably his prime in skateboarding was towards the mid 90's. he is one of my all time favorites in skateboarding for that time. amazing style, unique trick selections, perfect everything.

forever my favorite skater. pretty much the raddest skateboarder ever too, his band is sick the weekend blacks everybody here should give them a listen. him and julien are the reason kids these days are doing that whole dickies and vans thing.
everyone here should reframe from calling him a "hipster" because the dude is so not and never has been one.

i use to see ethan all the time around portland, super nice guy, always a good conversation about guitars and furniture.....when i did my 20 questions interview for transworld ethan was going to write the captions for the photos, it would have been rad! all the captions would have had nothing to do with the actual photo, or at least the trick, i dont think swift was into it at the time so it didn't happen, bummer!

i swear that i wore a hole in the tape of my vhs copy of art bars watching his part 50 bagillion times!

one time we were skating in north portland and this random guy and girl walked up and asked him if he was indeed ethan, when he replied "yes" the couple went on to tell us that they named there cat after him...

ethan has it all..... the skills, talent, style, image ,personality, tricks and the abillity to win contests when he feels like it....didn't he win the munster contest two years in a row back in the 90's????

that ledge from art bars he crooks and backtails is gigantic. my mom used to live near there and i remember walking by it before i even skated then when i saw art bars i was completely blown away. that kickflip he does in slomo over the barrell in art bars was amazing too. you can tell he was going for broke on it because he clears it by a mile
