Mouse always a good rewatch, and skate videos are better when you can tell the team is an actual group of friends.

Only negative is that this is right before filmers started picking better angles. Of the mid 90s classics (Trilogy, Tincan, Welcome to Hell, Eastern Exposure 3) Mouse has the most clips of the fisheye just crammed up someone’s asshole.

-still don't know who did the bs nosegrind on the table in york's part
-kinda the end of multiple foundational girl/chocolate riders careers: jovantae, tim gavin, ben sanchez, shamil randle, gabriel rodriguez
-imagine if mike carroll had a full part
-i believe this was the 1st appearance of gino on chocolate
-who was coco love
-ben sanchez's chinese nollie was very influential in my friend group
-songs like "nautilus" existing was a major revelation for me at the time -- despite no tracklisting, i somehow figured out what it was and hunted down the cd
-pretty much everyone in here is under 25
-i wonder if the other riders knew just how crazy guy's part was gonna be

^I'm pretty sure Carroll was hurt and that Penal Code footage is mostly from before the injury. Still a sick part but I always thought his footage in that seemed like throwaway for him.

Mouse is my favorite video of all time. Best soundtrack ever, especially for when it came out. Hearing Nautilus for the first time made the hair stand up on my arms - so glad I will always remember such a classic video when I hear that song start.

Having just moved to Vancouver in the summer of 1995, I was lucky enough to to witness a few things in person that ended up in the video. Sitting there in awe of Koston doing everything so easy on the CIBC rails as we watched from across the street (some other locals were also watching from a different spot across the street). Literally days after I moved here I was sitting on a bench at Hotspot and Rick Howard skated up to me and asked me if I had seen Tony Ferguson. I hadn't, and I went to skate the part of the spot I had gone there for, but when I came back over to that side again I caught Tony filming what would be his opening line for his part. The make was only a few tries after I went back to that side. Not sure why they were both in town at the time (this was when they both already lived in LA), but that was when a lot of pros were constantly coming to the city before everything got capped.

I was kinda out on skating at the time when this was released. I had a shitty band that I was trying to make succeed. I went by this skater friend of mine's house (named Mike) to get weed. And his crew were getting ready to watch a video. I was about to bail and he goes "have you seen the new Girl video?", and like I said, I was kinda out of skating at that moment. I said "nah" as I was about to roll out, and he goes "Mariano's in it dude". So I said "alright let's see". I felt kinda out of place, as I was in full hardcore band mode, and these guys were still living the dream. But I sat down, and the video blew my mind. First Sheffey (one of my faves ever), Keenan & Gino, lil bit of Carroll & Howard and then Guy's part. His part single handedly pulled me out of the band fantasy and put me back on the board. (The band was imploding anyway also). His part is also the ultimate reason why I always switch back to 7.7-7.75s and want Venture lows and Half Cabs. If I had to explain "what is the best street part you have ever seen", it is the one that I would show. It is also the part that I saw, when I realized that I would never be that good. Flawless tricks, selection & style. Mariano with that mane was the best

Just watched the Guy Marino Life On Video where he said his Mouse part was what he considered the best of his career. Classic for sure.

Most watched and favorite video, no contest. It seemed nothing but magical to me when it came out. I still watch it from time to time, not just for nostalgic reasons. Guy’s part is absolutely incredible. When my kid was a toddler I couldn’t watch it past Jeron’s Sw Bs 180 since she’d ask to watch the intro again and again.

It's actually a song written and sang by Ron Allen. Years ago he stayed at my place and rapped it for me after I told him Mouse was my favorite video of all time. My mind was blown.

The switch flip back tail / front tail / fakie nosegrind 180 line is pretty epic. With the kid clapping in the background.

Also the switch crook / switch shove / ride around the hydrant / front half cab nose shove line. In the half cabs too. The way he powers through the switch crook is sublime, and the shove out of the fs half cab nose is perfect.

To get a bit personal, I also remember being really into the Ben Sanchez and Chico parts. Especially with the latin music in Chico's. And then about a year after seeing the vid, I got my adoption records and birth certificate, and found out my birth mom was Colombian.... So I was like "ah! maybe THAT'S why I related more to the latino dudes". Genetics is a weird and powerful thing!

the fs nosegrind / heelflip / multiple pushes to massive tailslide on the hip-fence line always gets me stoked. Always.

Him pushing so hard in that line was super inspiring. I remember it used to pop into my mind on sessions and I would do that extra push.

My favorite bit is actually the combination of two lines that I think have been mentioned. First, the snap and precision of the Courthouse line starting with the Sw Kickflip Bs Tailslide to Fakie, then the flow and looseness (matched by the sunshine) of the schoolyard line right after. I’d always rewind those two together and be in awe.

Agreed, perfectly composed lines in an incredibly photogenic spot. The ledges sound good, too. Makes me wonder, is there any VX footage from that spot or had it vanished before VX took over?
