I've Frankenstein setup with Lurpiv 150 hollow hanger and ACE inverted kingpin baseplate.
Like it quite a lot, it works pretty much the same as regular Lurpiv. Just little shorter. It shortens the wb quite a bit though, but I just got a board with longer wb.

Anyone put the Slappy Ultra Low Inverted Kingpin in Lurpivs? Or any other inverted kingpin? Does the nut fit & stay in place in the baseplate?

I have the Acer Racing titanium kingpin in mine based on a recommendation from @Gene_Harrogate

I haven't had any issues with it staying in place but the install was done by @Francis Xavier and I think he hit it with a little bit of super glue or threadlocker. The base plate itself won't hold the nut in place.

That acer ikp fit in perf, and I tightened it enough with 0.0 loctite or glue. The slappy ikp should not be any different.

 Before you knock out that lurpiv kp spray it with some penetrating fluid or wd40, less hammering

I baked mine in the oven at 500⁰ for 20 minutes and used a regular hammer. came out super easy.

Thanks guys! Seems doable enough. I had the Lurpivs before and kinda enjoyed them. The kingpin clearance was so bad though that I got rid of them.

Injured now so the gear madness is rearing its ugly head again. Thinking I could get a shorter wb board with the Lurpivs instead of the Ace AF1 55/60s I’ve been running with 14.5/14.625/14.75” wheelbases. Maybe the Polar 8.5”, P9 or 1991 jr. with their 14.375” wheelbases.

Just need to sort out the kingpin issue as grinding the kingpin on 50-50s on new trucks is not something I want to do.

How loose are you both riding your trucks and what was the biggest factor that ended in injury, if you don’t mind me asking? Speed wobbles? I’ve been interested in getting a set, but if they are more squirrelly than AF1s, I’ll pass.

I don't even know how my friend broke his hip exactly but I just slipped out wrong doing a noseslide bs body varial down a qp. Both of us skate jiggle loose but also Lurpivs get jiggle loose even if you leave them stock, just the way the bushings break in for some reason. Realistically it was just user error but that doesn't stop our superstition about Lurpivs

This is anecdotal evidence, don't get scared because of it. I rolled my ankle a few times on Ventures and didn't blame them for my user mistake... Shit happens on any gear.
If anything in my experience Lurpivs are less squirrelly than Aces, well I mean they can get squirrelly, sure, but the balance at the center is more stable imo.

i have about 1 board worth of life left on my lurpivs and they are fine for me. I tightened them slightly throughout the life of the truck. They dont feel crazy loose for me by any means. I do remember them feeling super insane, very hard to skate the first day or two i had them, but i got used to it pretty quickly. I had a really un-ideal setup too with really long WB and I was skating fine enough on them, i was ollieing stuff my max height and pushing top speed into grinds. putting a lower height hex nut and shaving down the kingpin would make these trucks actually PERFECT imo. The bushings are actually really good.

i have a short 14" wb board on them now that i havent skated other than doing a few flatground tricks in my basement, felt so good like that compared to the 14.5". hoping the kingpin clearance doesnt drag on round bars too much, maybe will ask my friend to grind down the kingpin at his dad's machine shop like he did if its getting annoying and i want to keep using the trucks.

i recently switched to lurpiv from independent and didn't have any issues with adjustment at all. was ollie'ing up stuff to max height on day 1. No issues with kingpin, theoretically i'd prefer it lower but turn is more important IMO.  i did switch to hard bushings, which is something i always do anyway since i'm bigger than average and prefer slightly tighter trucks than most people. but the stock bushings felt better to me than others on the first day i used them before i switched to hard. i actually almost didn't switch them out because i might have gotten away with just tightening them down more, but i don't like more than flush or 1-2 threads showing

Yes, like I said more akin to red top ply superstition than anything else... but it is true that my friend and I who are both not particularly injury prone got smoked both on Lurpivs. Maybe Oski placed a curse on them when he got hurt

I too was pitched from the board riding Lurpiv. Coming down from a tabletop at speed, but it's one I've ridden up and down each session several times for years. Can't prove it because it happened too fast, but my thought is the truck cut loose and/or I got bad wheelbite.

Cursed or merely an incident? Regardless I parted with them. Definitely a good truck though.

Just a ritualistic superstition however irrational it may be. Did the same with a pair of shoes I'd never ridden before even though I knew the injury was my own fault because I hadn't warmed up properly.

I can definitely see how some of u guys feel like it might be the truck. When I first got mine the bushings were so hard and the truck felt so tight. I loosened them a bit and then bam they felt perfect. But as they broke in more they became dangerously loose. So I tightened them a bit to get them back to where they felt good at. As now I have to tighten them every session or take them apart and clean the bushings and put them together again or else they get dangerously loose again. They feel amazing when I get them to where I like but they just come loose so fast, and I know it’s not my kingpin nut. It’s gotta be the bushings or pivot cup (the latter of which I think is the real culprit)

If they pinch even remotely better and the clearance is better then I'm really happy. I loved the turn but couldn't stand that. Would gladly replace my AF1 with them.

More kingpin clearance sounds good. Wonder what other changes there are to the geometry, if any. If the pinch/baseplate situation can be improved I'd give it a go again
