Skate goat is just a gimmick and fad. Think back to Simon Woodstock. Yes skate goat is good, and it's hard to tell his natural stance sometimes. But he isn't doing anything that hasn't been done before, and not doing anything we haven't seen before. He's gonna fade away like those pound in RANDOMS hardware we saw back in the day, along with bearing rims.

Sheesh. That is exactly what I expected a Cariuma Documentary to look like.

The "Story By" bit on the IMDB page is hilariously revealing. It took 4 writers to put this Leandre Sanders myth together.

It also shows T.Hawk as 3rd billing in the cast... when that trailer shows him with his hands in his pockets, filmed on an iPhone hastily outside his home. Love it.

So from the trailer I've surmised that the movie will consist of the following-
50% purchased b-roll
25% interviews of people saying how awesome skategoat is.
15% skategoat saying how awesome he is
7%   skategoat pushing
3%   skategoat skating

Get hungry on it!

I'm confused - what laurels is he resting on here? Lol.

Seems like a really premature and self-congratulatory celebration of a career that hasn't really taken off.

Even legends like Reynolds or Carrol (who DO HAVE the storied careers of starting from nothing and building legitimate empires and legacies within our culture) would look really wack if a documentary/movie/whatever the hell this is was made about them that took this approach.

The straight-faced running with sports cliches in the ludicrously heavy-handed narration throughout rules. I can't believe anyone greenlit this.

I don't think anyone 'greenlit' this. the trailer was uploaded with the .MP4 file type tag still attached lol

I'm no industry insider or anything but I'm betting that if you have a heavy hitter like Van Alpert attached to your project you don't walk, you RUN.  No time to fret over little things like actual accomplishments.

Hopefully, but Simon Woodstock didn't have the the backing of an expert in artificial bullshit. Borra, from his his humble, fake-as-fuck beginnings inserting fabricated look-a-like street obstacles in his skate part, is leveraging all his resources to capture the youth market and completely sidestep the core market. Jagger is the gateway, and the premature skate goat movie is just a byproduct of capturing eyeballs that have no grasp of skating's real roots and shared values. Like Berrics, Borra wants to carve out an enclave where his bullshit flies unchallenged, where he can be a control freak about what posters are allowed and what myths get legitimized, to the detriment of our true culture.

I really don't know if this no stance bullshit will be interesting to anyone outside skateboarding. You know there are sometimes skateboard scenes in movies where the skaters obviously have different stances or change it but it's just some random detail skaters see

Question: what are Van Alpert’s connections with the Church of Scientology?

Full disclosure: I enjoy watching this Leandre dude’s skating because of its relative fluidity, but on a technical level, is it really all that difficult? Seems like the type of stuff some kid at a beach front skatepark my pull, smooth, surfy, the works. It looks kinda fun to me; what can I say?
Shout out to beach towns, BTW.
You know the vibe!
Back to my point… Never have I seen so much hype poured upon somebody who can’t even skate switch.
That is all.

TL;DR Who?!?

I wanna play you in a game of SKATE for the right to continue talking shit on me.  You think you got me?
