Being additionally stoked on everything besides that (the filming, editing, stylization etc.) without also finding the brand’s art direction and product design at least somewhat appealing seems pretty unlikely.

‘Somewhat’ is the key word, the main focus still on the ‘(the filming, editing, stylization etc.)‘

Still finding it “somewhat appealing” is different than “hating” it despite liking the video, like you initially said, but whatever.

Also lol @ beckham dismissing the analogy and literally coming to Elon’s aid. Almost like he has a chronic habit of identifying himself as being on the side of people with infinitely more financial success and social status than him and conveniently imagining all his detractors as monolithically backwards and ignorant (i.e. wearing a brand of shoes he dislikes and assumes they must like). That’s fine, its a pervasive coping mechanism, just know there are people who will see through it.

if that was the case i would love america and americans like you but i dont. you think the world resolves around your problems and slowly you are destroying this planet.
im not a rich white person that wants to be a business man or whatever you think im trying to be lmao i dont see value in living disgustingly rich. i wonder if you think if people who buy supreme look like some
billionaire kids screaming around because they want something NOOOOOOW and the dad is a fat pig looking guy with versace gold rings around his fingers throwing around with money.
i dont come from lots of money so im happy and value it completly whenever i get myself something
maybe you just havent hit the age were you have worked all year and now you think about buying a jacket when its getting cold but you want something that keeps you warm lasts +5 years and looks good on you.
you could totally go buy a cheap jacket and dont care.
or you could buy that beautiful jacket you saw and feel good wearing it.

what is the reason why i wear clothing at all? i could just skate and drink beer that would be so chill.

i dont even know why im explaining this to you. its about the video and its gets far more hate than it deserves. the filming was never absolutley not acceptable and not watchable as some guys were saying.

Just gave this vid a second watch. Bill's filming gave me a tad bit of vertigo but I generally like his song choices. Doc Oc instrumental and Pleasure Symbols got me psyched. Night Ranger and Meek Mill not so much

Did anyone noticed KRod rocking a Lifelover pendant?

It’s a Swedish DSBM band (depressive suicidal black metal).

Not judging, just thought it was cool.  8)

Jesus thats filmed like utter shit
Imagine if instead of doing that lil shuvit afterwards (at least I think it was a shuvit? His feet and board were cut off) he decided to do some really nicely popped and stylish flip trick instead, one that was so proper that people would reference it later for years to come, but because Bill wants to get all zoom happy it was missed. Bills filming is getting to the point where he could potentially be missing filming tricks and that’s enough for me to not back it.

Is Bill serious with this shit? I can't tell. That filming is atrocious. I feel sorry for the skaters. Had to turn it off after 10 seconds.

i still haven't watched this and probably won't. i love bill strobeck and he gets a lifetime pass but these clips just seems like such an ordeal to watch this point. the dramatization, face zoom onto 13 years olds' contrived/self aware facial expressions as they roll up to another back tail, the gloomy ass colors, and of course the zoom that makes it hard to tell what is going on. and finally the types of luxury fits that are only skated by people who are getting the garments for free (which I harp on constantly but still). it's just too much.

generally i like edits shit that are more out of left field but this is just becoming not my cup of tea

I need to go back and watch Cherry again. Was the zooming and slomo-ing and color grading this crazy? I don't remember it being quite so OD

From my perspective Bill’s filming in the last decade or so has been an emulation of your gaze as if you were there to witness the trick.  Looking at in that way I can find enjoyment in it despite the fact that some of these tricks (like TJ’s fountain switch flip) were filmed pretty poorly.  Complaining this late in the game just seems pointless?

I'd unironically love if Bill said "fuck it" and made a fully freaked, avant-garde skate video. Give me all the fucked angles and crazy filtering to the point that the skating is completely illegible, and make it an hour long please.

The dudes on the Mostly Skateboarding podcast think Bill Strobeck is one of the most underrated filmers in skating. They’re takes are so fried sometimes. The dude is the filmer for a hypebeast company. That’s like exact opposite of underrated. Just wanted to get that off my chest lol

Strobeck's videos are the skateboarding equivalent to found footage horror movies. Heavy motion sickness vibes.

Now that VF 100 percent owns Supreme I wonder if they would ever use Vans’ filmers to get better footage or they’re just that far up Bill’s fat ass….

Skateboarding is a creative interaction with the world around you. Bill Strobeck is creatively playing with the world around film. I like his videos. I know most of you post here because real life is hard and having kind of an autistic obsession with cool, but like cool in my small town not in Paris of NYC because that would challenge my blue collar, small town understanding of whats acceptable to me and the toxic masculinity on display at my local skatepark.

Anyway got sidetracked. Strobeck's videos are enjoyable, creative constructs. There are so many videographers peddling just a basic documentation of skateboarding pioneered by Spike in the 90s that I enjoy Strobeck's being different.

There are that many Nike Videos, Converse Videos, Primitive videos, Adidas videos where you can see clearly the full torso of these skaters that I don't really see the issue of your moral panics over homoerotic depictions of teenagers.

There’s a little line Vince Touzery does in one of the previous videos where Bill completely misses a natural frontside 360 on flat and I’ve been mad ever since.

This is dark as fuck but thank God we don't have to watch any incredible Dylan footage filmed all shitty.

I thought about this the other day. Love it or hate it, part of Dylan's style was how he moved his upper body/arms, and Strobeck's current filming absolutely not capture an essential element of Dylan's skating - if not ruin it altogether, like most of the stuff in this video.

I like to think Dylan would have told Bill to pull his head in and film properly.
