I’ve been following this thread for a while, but have a question.
Where did the Huffer come from?
Was it originally Cardiel’s shape?
The Black Label Cardiiel board seems really close, what’s the Huffer’s ancestry?
Others might have more, but yes I think it was pretty much the original shape the Cardiel had back in the day, as people have pics and video of it and regardless of graphic, it looked very much like that board, maybe shorter overall than what the Huffer is, as my 1992 9" similar shaped board from The Firm had a 14.0" wb on what was maybe 32" long or just under and about 9" at the widest point, more pointy nose and big round tail.
Fast forward to maybe 2004 to 2006 or so and the Huffer came out as part of a package of "different boards" in a time when things were a bit stale again, so DLX released one or so different shaped board every other drop, often a Krooked Gonz, or a "pool / barney" board on AH, or even a different option from Real. I had all the paper catalogs from back then, courtesy of a shop connection so it is pretty cool to see what was coming out at a time when 7.9 was being phased out, 8 and 8.1 option were the best sellers, 8.25 was the "vert board" in the range and very few of them, or even any other wider options at that time too, apart from the occasional shaped board, often 8.6 through 9.1 or even the occasional 9.5 or so wide boards.
I was going to check artofskateboarding.com but the site is currently down, but I seem to recall they had some good info and boards for Cardiel there.
* Adding this here though - Cardiel on the Black Label deck
