It’s crazy looking at the pictures comparing the huffer to the orange and white eagles. They’re all fairly close in dimensions but skate so differently. Orange eagle feels really big and heavy. Huffer feels smaller than the white eagle to me even though it’s longer and wider in the middle. The tapered nose really cuts a lot of weight

Nothing left to do but try it even though I will probably try it and go back to the white eagle haha.

Huffer is the only shaped deck I’ve ever liked enough to use on my main setup. It works for everything. That’s how I’m feeling about the white eagle right now, I can skate anything with it. For me, the white eagle has the slight advantage of extra width up front. Either way, if you like the white eagle, you’ll like the huffer

Thanks for the pictures to reference and your comparison of the huffer to the eagles.  Just the info I was looking for.  I am on the white eagle now and it is a great deck.  I really have no reason to switch it up to something different except that there is always a chance that something will be a bit better.  If the huffer doesn't work out I will just go back to the white eagle.

Been "of Huffer" for about a year. I think it's time to revisit an old friend. But...I'm on Ventures right now and feel like with the 14.75 wheelbase I'll have to switch back to Indys. What say you, Huffer friends? I mostly skate curbs/low ledges, not much flipping going on.

What is the current board / wheelbase you are on now, or most common setup you ride?

I kind of feel like a mellow Huffer could still be good on Venture 6.1s but I haven't tried that option.  Still yet to even try the usual DLX 8.75 on some 6.1s which is on my to do list, but I know others do it and skate it well.

* That's without going down the V8 or double drilled baseplate, or redrilling the deck option too, but I know someone else that redrilled a Huffer and even shortened the nose on it to make it work for them.  Not sure I would do that though - easier to get a different board if that was the case.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Right now I’m mostly on 14.25 or 14.38 wheelbases, but I’m not super picky. I have skated 9” pops with a 15” wheelbases but those were with Indys, so I guess that backed it off to closer to 14.75” wheelbase.

Anyway, maybe I’ll just give it a try. All else fails I have a set of 159s I can throw on and I know they’ll feel good.

I did it. Pulled the trigger on a Huffer. I got the cream team one with the classic eagle on it. It was cheaper than the Mezcarelos and the Curbageddon.

Will post an abomination clad in NHS stuff sometime in a week when it gets here.

Why am I currently riding the sweatpants shape?

I think this it though. After this Krooked is done, it will be all Huffers (5 in the pile) with the occasional GFB.

Appreciate the review. I wonder if they'll do the new Venture V8s in a 6.1?

Thanks man. Been “threatening” to get on board since march 1st 2023.

Reading through the thread to get all the dirt on huffing, I saw my old question. I also asked you guys about truck size back then.

Going to be using this to reduce the madness, and once I’m dialled in, I’m going to let some stuff go, while other stuff goes into long term storage. Will probably keep my 8.5” popsicle setup on 149 with 53 mm wheels to have that loaner/backup board. And maybe I’ll build a cruiser.

Frank posted a Mezcalero with stage 4 151s, which I didn’t see, before today, back in February of 23.
I’m stoked to try that combo.

I’ve been following this thread for a while, but have a question.

Where did the Huffer come from?
Was it originally Cardiel’s shape?

The Black Label Cardiiel board seems really close, what’s the Huffer’s ancestry?

Others might have more, but yes I think it was pretty much the original shape the Cardiel had back in the day, as people have pics and video of it and regardless of graphic, it looked very much like that board, maybe shorter overall than what the Huffer is, as my 1992 9" similar shaped board from The Firm had a 14.0" wb on what was maybe 32" long or just under and about 9" at the widest point, more pointy nose and big round tail.

Fast forward to maybe 2004 to 2006 or so and the Huffer came out as part of a package of "different boards" in a time when things were a bit stale again, so DLX released one or so different shaped board every other drop, often a Krooked Gonz, or a "pool / barney" board on AH, or even a different option from Real.  I had all the paper catalogs from back then, courtesy of a shop connection so it is pretty cool to see what was coming out at a time when 7.9 was being phased out, 8 and 8.1 option were the best sellers, 8.25 was the "vert board" in the range and very few of them, or even any other wider options at that time too, apart from the occasional shaped board, often 8.6 through 9.1 or even the occasional 9.5 or so wide boards.

I was going to check artofskateboarding.com but the site is currently down, but I seem to recall they had some good info and boards for Cardiel there.

Sure.  I actually started with Thunders, and then when I got the 6.1s, I made the switch and I ended up liking them better.  The nollie power is unmatched!  (I do have trouble with any other nollie tricks on this board though due to the shape of the nose - my only complaint!)

How are 9” ace hollows on a huffer?

I’m tall. Size 13 feet. Just not sure these aces have been right for me. Want some pop back

Personally, i think 9” aces are a little wide on Huffer. Once you get over 8.75” it loses a lot of its versatility. Especially if you want to pop your board and use huffer as an all rounder, I would recommend 8.5”-8.75” trucks

Got the board on Thursday, but didn’t have time to set it up before that nights old boys skate sesh. Went past my local shop for sheet of mob, and set it up tonight.

Europe-time: Sunday 00:19

Took the pictures from the tail, but it keeps turning them sideways when I upload them.

“The Cream-Team”
Stage 4 151, stock.
Bones X97 56mm V6
Reds
Black allen 7/8” hardware
Kooky grip job. Black and clear mob.

Feels sorta criminal not having more DLXSF on there, but the setup-police ain’t ever gunna catch me.

Proportions look great on that. 151s on a Huffer will really liven it up for you. Don't tell anyone but I rode some Dragons on a Huffer a few weeks back... No one saw and I have not confessed this until now. It was at a super crusty Oregon coast park  and they helped me with the line I needed to do a Smith/ Feeble transfer over a spine. Once this was complete I went back to my Spitfires...

I promise I won’t tell, haha.
Sorry for OT, but did you try Spit 93a? Some report that they’re like Bones 97a.
Yeah I think the trucks are going to work out fine. It’s the most magic carpet I’ve ever set up and I’m very exited to go skate it.
I could see myself having a couple of these set up in different truck/wheel combos, like you, but right now it’s just the madness/infatuation talking.
I took the 151s/56mm off my 8.5” polar, and slapped it on this, and then put back on 149s and 53mm. My old Orange Eagle, tortured as it is, is being put on cruiser duty. So I have my bases covered.

I don't mean to be alarmist but I have had peeks at Spring 2025 Drops 1 and 2 and there are no Huffers.
Plan accordingly, dear cult members.

People always compliment my Huffers out there in the pools, parks and streets but I don't think I've ever ran across anyone else riding one...

Hopefully, its not ran its course.

Talk me off the ledge...
