9" trucks can work really well on the Huffer. If you score the newest one with wheel wells, the 9" trucks will also push the wheels out closer in line with the wells and then you really won't need risers.

Indy Stage 4 166s could be a part of a really nice Huffer undercarriage and I'm kind of regretting not getting these over Thunder 161s as my last truck purchase.

Generally speaking I'd say 8.75" are good starting point for new cvlt recruits, as that's about the width of the deck where the axles sit.

Hence why I’m looking into 9” alternatives. I probably spend 90% of my skating on 3’ mini ramp, or 5’-6’ bowls.
One in while I dork around on some flat, and little street course stuff. Manuals, and Ollie’s. A homie built a curb at our indoor, but for me it’s too tall to Slappy grind.

I have some Slappy 9” hollows (KP and axle) on one of my bigger boards and they don’t feel super heavy at all. I have not weighed them though.

Yeah if you're looking to drop weight then Slappy is a good option, I've got some 8.75" IKP slappys that weigh in at 378g per truck and the hollow lights will be even lighter than that.

If you can deal with the height, I can also wholly recommend Lurpivs. My 160 Hollows are 355g per truck

Slappys are pretty light compared to say Ace and Indy.

That’s what I assumed. I rode Indys forever but haven’t had a set on hand for about a year. I mostly ride Ventures for anyone 8.5 and below and have switched to Slappys for anything wider. Absolutely love them.

I’m definitely looking into Slappy Hollow lights. Seems like here in Europe I can only find inverted hollow lights at the moment. Never owned an inverted kp truck before, so I’m kind of on the fence about it. On the other hand, trucks have become less of a hassle since I dropped a ton of weight.

Lurpivs aren’t looking too bad actually. I like riding 55-56 mm wheels, and all my trucks are 55mm height now. Lurpiv 160 solid are lighter than ace hollows, and they’re 2/3 the price.

Hollows aren’t much more expensive.

I usually skate Ace 60s but tempted to try my Stage 4 151s on it to shrink the wb a tiny bit. Can anyone confirm if these will sit flush or a little bit too narrow? I skate 56mm conical fulls.

I’ve run huffer with stage 4 151s. With those wheels you should be pretty close to flush. It’s a good set up. Stage 4s just ended up being too heavy for me

So the funny thing for me with 151s when trying them on different boards, is that I like to have the hanger the same width as the deck, so I ended up putting them on a DLX 8.62 which has the same 14.75 wb as a Huffer.  When I was thinking it might work better drilled in, I just drilled in the baseplate - used the other baseplate and put them back to back the other way round, drilled the two holes and then had the wheelbase at about 14.4 or so, which was way more fun, with the front truck in and the back truck in the normal position.

This could be an option for you if you did feel like the Huffer was too long but worked with those trucks.

I was going to sit the 8.62 on top of the Huffer just for show and tell but the trucks look like they would work well enough, but I guess it is down to how you like your board to feel, eg wider board with wider trucks, or wider board with trucks that sit in a bit.

I too have run mine with stage 4 151, and they work really good. Pop does become light, and the wb comes a little closer.
Both your Ace 60s and your 151s will work great. Doesn’t Indy stage 4 and Aces both run at about +2.75”
Anyways don’t worry about no wheelbase, your trucks will make it manageable.

Yeah, they’re heavier, but I got like 408 grams on my 151, 407 on my 159 standard, and ACE says their AF1 60 is 405 grams. They’re practically the same weight.

Ended up putting the 151s on top of a Huffer and damn they actually fit really well - way better than I would have thought but you guys were right on that one!

These are Spitfire Classic Full 56 mm wheels, so 37 mm wide, but I was surprised how well they fit on there, especially the drilled in front one, as the Huffer is more tapered in the front than the back.

Just took a quick snap of the boards in the garage earlier.

It is a funny thing hey?!?

Maybe they are giving them a rest to see how many people cry out for more, or sales are down a bit on them, if their main market is older guys who don't break boards that often, then stocking up could mean that there is not as high a demand.

I do notice that things come round in circles for shapes, so they have some shapes on constant rotation, then other shapes are every drop for a few, then none for a few, and so on.

Could be that the Huffer is on break right now, or for the next few drops.

I’ve read this whole thread, absolutely love the passion surrounding this shape. I got an account finally just to
Chime in on the topic. I kust set up my first Phawt and I’m absolutely in love. I  know everyone says it lacks that special something a huffer has, but I gotta say haven’t felt this comfortable on a boards first session ever.  I thought the wheelbase would be a lil odd to get use to, but it feels more natural than a 14.25 wb.

Not sure if a phawt constitutes as being apart of the cult, but it helps me pretend I can skate like CK1

Welcome. Phawt counts. CK1 was skating  a lot of Huffers before Craig made their own version, the Phawt.

It is not quite as good but it is pretty close in dimensions and shape. Concave and wood feels very different of course. And you can get Phawts pretty cheap.
