I've read on slap many times folks experience truck washers clicking against kingpins while turning (mainly in Ace threads).

I found a fix that works quite well, simply bar soap shavings dissolved in water.

I use fragrance/dye free soap which is safe to apply on urethane and plastic (funky chemicals could degrade bushings/pivot cups).

With trucks fully assembled, apply single drop of bar soap solution between king pin nut and top washer. Apply drop between base plate and bottom washer and enjoy the silence (works great in pivot cups to stop squeaking).

I fill a mixing vessel about 1/4 with loose bar soap shavings and add 3/4 filtered/distilled water, shake and wait for soap to fully dissolve. I funnel solution into a eye dropper type vessel for ease of application and storage in skate bag (I use an old E-cig juice bottle).

Enjoy

Am I the only person in the universe who likes squeaky trucks? ^^

But your tips are great, thanks for that.

I like noisy trucks also @fs1/2cab but not clicking... but really if I've ever had any clicking its gone once the trucks are properly broken in. The only thing I've ever done to aid the break in process is to wax the pivot a little.

The only time I ever had clicking was new Bones booshings in new Tensors. I don’t skate Tensors any more and nothing clicks.

I do it a little different, I get huge bricks of paraffin wax from the crafts store, then if things start a squeakin’ I just rub each side of the bushings on it a few times and get ‘em glossed up. Then take a razor blade and shave thin chunks into the pivot cups. Squeak doesn’t come back for a long time, and it’s usually just the pivot cups that need another waxing. As far as the washers clicking, just remove the top washer. Makes them turn better anyways.

That clicking & squeaking sound your trucks are making?
THAT’s how you know they’re working.
Without that audio feedback, how would you ever know if you were actually turning or not?!?

I wanna play you in a game of SKATE for the right to continue talking shit on me… You think you got me?

I am in Arizona and find wax keeps dust and sand stuck to the trucks while soap dries up and allows derbies to fall away.

I like my trucks silent and believe squeaking is the pivot cup wearing down faster.

The squeaking is weakness leaving your trucks.
They are only stronger for it.

IMO a lubed pivot cup makes for a looser ride considering squeaking is friction. I like my trucks to smoothly dive into a turn and all I desire to hear is my wheels rolling (w/spacers, shields on and greased).

The best solution I've found for pivot cups is automotive grease. Wax freezes up in the cold and you have to use more of it, with grease you can just dip your pivot in, wipe off the globs (you want to leave a thin layer), and be good to go all winter. I've heard of some heathens using petroleum jelly as well and that apparently works unless it's either over 100 degrees or well below freezing.
