MACBA stabbing

Anyway a skater got stabbed at MACBA the other day. Hope he's alright. It was the guy that bailed off the big ledge into the bin. Wonder if anyone can shed some light on the situation?

I just talked to some locals days ago and Barcelona now has a huge Problem with "refugees" from the maghreb states and africa (like the guy in the Videos). They told me that some streets are not safe anymore during night and that they avoid certain spots

You get robbed during daylight in the middle of the City and you cant do anything about it. Even Robert Lewandowski got robbed last week in his fuckin car

There is really crazy motherfuckers hanging around the Macba these days. It's a shame that a skatespot has become a hive for anti social activities. Drug dealing etc.

Also I've seen some crazy shit outside Macba. Gang of Moroccans tried to rush me. This was when I first moved here and I was still white as a sheet Irish guy ha.

None the less I fucking love this place. Best city in the world.

Yeah Jardins del Forat is a no go during the day. First time I went there I saw some guy getting robbed at 1pm.

Reviews of the park are pretty funny/upsetting. I don't understand why they can't prosecute these guys because they definitely are violent robberies.

Been there a few times, first time was in 2000 and I can confirm all of this.

- I saw people get robbed at Macba as well. Paki/Roma kids that just went in, robbed a dude or two and left.
Literally within seconds. Years later when I went back, it was still the same ...

- gnarly fights with drunk dudes, stabbings with broken bottles etc.


- Is there still an issue with prostitutes as well? I remember just walking down the street at night and the same girls would do their "walk" every night and would just NOT leave me alone. Almost to a point they'd get pissed because I always said no ... They probably needed more and more money to make their pimp happy. Sad, because they were actually beautiful (They were Colombian).

Fukn chuck Norris over here. If you ever meet a paramedic or emergency room doctor ask them how often "just fight back" works against someone with a knife. Also if you read the posts people have been saying it's been happening for twenty years, I'm sure plenty of people have stood up for themselves and yet it's still happening.

But when there s a weapon it can get out of control pretty quick

All true, but since summer of 2022 it got out of hand. It has become are serious Problem by now and I dont see the City of Barcelona taking the right steps in order to get rid of this useless violence

I absolutely love it. I live right beside the beach and Picnic diy so I go skate after work most days then cool off in the sea after.

On weekends I go to Macba and El Born. Good techno / club scene which I'm into so I'm really spoiled haha.

Getting a grip on the language now too which is good

It's so cheap to live here I'd really recommend it to anyone. I know there's the crime aspect but you just gotta know where to go and be alert and you're fine.

There was a barca local pro back in the day (I think he skated for that brand Illenium) that fought back and killed the guy robbing him.  I guess it worked out for him eventually, but I think he was in a lot of legal trouble for a while.  Anyone remember the full story?  I went there around 2004 and everyone was talking about it then

As a southamerican I know shit can get hectic anywhere, no matter the place or time, you must always be aware of your surroundings and especially if you are skater... I assume we've been on the streets long enough to know the deal. Sometimes its quick and theres nothing to do about it and you can only hope for the best.
Confrontation its never the best option, dont act as an smartass and try to avoid as much as you can. You have shit to lose and they dont.

In Europe you get spoiled sometimes, everything looks so good and in place, polite people and "rules" make you forget that dudes with bad intentions can be around the corner. I didn't got in trouble the times I was there but definately saw really sketchy shit going on in different cities.

That being said, BCN its fucking perfect; its huge but feels small, you have beach life, skate life, jobs, spots, girls, fucking everything. I spent two weeks  and I never wanted to leave.
Right now some friends sold all their shit and just went to live there
