I loved the part (throwback for me to hammer parts a la Baker 2G) and I love his skating generally, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the idea that if you’re the best you’re held to the highest standards (often, admittedly, by a bunch of feckless dorks), and the fact is that not one but two of the clips of which there were photos in the interview arguably weren’t 100 per cent on.
Personally I think the switch Ollie was dope (if not as well done as he probably could do it with a bit more time) but that he might have redone the nosegrind. Even on my negligible standard of skating, if you clip the tail or back truck unintentionally when you come out of a nosegrind it doesn’t count ( and that’s true for him, Jake Johnson or whoever else).
I also think it’s lame if specific angles or editing are used (or not used, like the side angle of the switch ollie) to make something like this less obvious (eg Carlos Ribeiro’s bs noseblunt on Clipper (last trick in the primitive video) was shown from the same and only angle for both the thrasher cover and the clip, likely because from that angle it’s harder to see that it was booger.) Nothing wrong with being critical of that kind of thing.
