I saw Manny at my old local a few years ago. He wasn't even skating though, he rolled up with one of his homies and looked like they were having a heavy conversation. I'm fairly certain I even saw him crying at one point. But it was the first time I back tail fakied the handrail at the park, so all in all it's a pretty good memory.

Some Jart graphics are so bad I feel they would get some value in the future as a weird skate memorabilia stuff. The graphic "designer" of the models is a childhood friend of the owners and he's been working with them since the start of the brand.
The owners don't give a shit about the hate they receive for the brand anymore. The numbers they get from selling Jart and producing other brands seems to be high enough for that. The brand launched in 2002 (I think), and a lot of big brand have disappeared or faded away since then in Europe (Cliché, Blueprint, etc.) or in the US (Dwindle, Zero, Shorty's, The Firm, etc.) yet Jart is still here and probably selling on the same levels of the biggest brands worldwide. I feel that they are managed as a business by numbers for numbers and they don't give a fuck about being relevant. They are in every little shop that cannot carry FA, Primitive or Polar in a lot of small towns and for cheaper than those brands. Bad graphics or not they will sell to that mom or teenager that just want a cheap legit deck.

Oh god, so I have a lot of friends who work at a branch of SkateHut and the amount of fucking Jart weed decks they have is insane. That Chronic The Hedgehog one has been haunting the fucking sale bin for ages.

I know Jart is big in the UK because it's like the only local major woodshop so it's cheaper than most but what the fuck are they even supposed to be? They fluxuate between having dogshit sub-etsy wallhanger deck art, cartoon characters made out of nugs and rejected Almost graphics. I know Jart also own/distribute Flip and Skate Mental (and I think Plan B and Element? Or at least have them made in the Jart factory)

Years back I skated a damn am in Costa Mesa. Went into a hotel room to drink some beers, decent amount of people, pack of like 6 were doing ayo. He was sitting on the bed watching a Disney movie and the smile never left his face. It was trippy and cool to see a dude just ignoring the drugs in the corner and people drinking in his room, not giving a damn about people caring what he was up to. Dude was rad when I met him, but the industry has never seemed the grant him a full pass. Maybe he'll keep something going- surprised he didn't find his way to Darkstar or something years ago.
