Fishing Lines Shoes
« on: February 24, 2023, 08:07:12 AM »
Not sure whether this should go into the gear section but fuck it.

Mackrodt started a shoe line called as the series of clips he and wallner are doing: https://www.fishinglinesworldwide.com/collections/all

What's your take?

Edit: embedding the screenshot of the shoes doesnt work, so attached

I think they look pretty good. Not my style necessarily but looks like good design. There's an art teacher who's big into fishing and always wears Vans at my school. I'm gonna show him these badboys and see what he thinks. Could be the perfect crossover.
If my rep is ever an even number, please kindly throw me either a kook or a gnar in order to return me to my odd number equilibrium.

Who is macrkodt? And wallner as in patrick? These shoes are pretty bad. Look like poor quality versions of shoes that already exist in hundreds of other brand lines.

Cute but boring. The price is pretty gnarly and they don't even come in size 12. I will pass.

I feel like these are just more of the "skate shoes disguised as dress shoes" brands that have been popping up a little more. Pretty meh.

Used to squeeze my size 13/14 feet into 11s and rip out insoles and any extra lining/padding. At the time it seemed worth it but years later I think I wouldn't recommend it

Michael Mackrodt and Patrick Wallner, yes. The two main guys behind the „fishing Lines“ Series of Clips

I find it pretty economically „brave“ of them to start a shoe company but they‘re not my cup of tea

Ya know I’m not really sure, I think it was Avril before and I just was like why don’t I find a skate celebrity to replace it with. Always thought she was dope too, she like works with kids and stuff and I always kinda respected that stuff, and her.

Gotta be the first time a shoe company has sprung from a video series, yeah?
GX got to that mark w/ decks already, and the Atlantic Drift guys were very nearly there too, but anybody got an example of shoes being birthed out of video(s)?
Seems so odd to me.

I wanna play you in a game of SKATE for the right to continue talking shit on me.  You think you got me?

If I could even come close to pulling off the Hensley aesthetic of doc Martin looking shoes with cuffed blue jeans I'd do it in a fucking second.

yes, I also think they are overestimating the "brand" value of their video series, despite the series being really great. I doubt it'll translate into shoe sales -- but hopefully it'll work out

He has a family and is 43, man is bold! Starting a skate-footwear company whose sole marketing focus/ output is one person's (the owner of the company) web series with collectively less than 1 million views. I love an underdog story.
