Anyone has an idea what band's music is used the most in skate videos? What are the top 3 or top 10 bands?

feel like dinosaur jr. and built to spill have both been used milions of times.

i don't feel strongly about either band, but it seems weird to me how much they've been used compared to say pixies, mbv or jamc. maybe they're more chill with their rights or something...

Interpol. Justin Strubing and Jeremy Wray both skate to PDA in separate videos (Elementality/That's Life). Brian Anderson also skates to Obstacle 1 in Yeah Right!

The Strange Boys / Ryan Sambol have been used a good amount of times. I think like 4 parts in all, one or two from Leo as they were friends for a sec. Dilo used a song by Sambol too. I'd guess that Black Lips have a decent amount of songs in skate parts as well.

i actually dont think theres a whole lot of misfits in skate parts which is kind of a good thing imo, amazing band (pre graves) but i dont really think their sound would work very well in a skate video given how tinny and treble-y the majority of their recordings are

according to Skate Video Site, David Bowie is featured in 94 videos, Black Sabbath in 92 and The Doors in 89. those are just the top 3 i found while guessing the most popular bands. and thats not including when multiple songs are in the video.

Dinosaur Jr/J Mascis has to be up there, especially when factoring in how many iconic parts/videos it's used in.

Doubt they are near the most used, but De La Soul is used in three very iconic parts (Carroll in Ftc-Finally and Goldfish, and in Daewon's New World Order part).

Elliott Smith seems to get used a lot in recent times starting with Nate Broussard in Static 3, but also BDK's welcome to DC part, Suciu's Cross Continental and Dylan's Mindfield part.

Totally. It's a bit unfair, but if you include Wu-Tang, Solos, and Instrumentals, I can almost guarantee they're the most used.

Regarding The Misfits, I can only think of three videos from the top of my head. Jeff Lenoce/Brian Sumner in The End, Mike Maldonado in Welcome to Hell and Börje in Biech Også. But there must be tons of videos using songs by them. Some fiendly pal around to help me out?

I actually collected the data of every song on Skatevideosite.com for a school-project about a year ago. I had to split it up in decades, so I could make the deadline, so I only did the 90's til 00's.

I'm still planning on doing the rest as well, and I also have data sets based on every (sub)genre used, but it takes a really long time to compile these sets so I haven't found free time and motivation to finish them.
