i just hope wherever he lands, there’s an actual pro shoe in his contract. he’s one of my favorites and am sure he’d make something really sick

Vans is kinda whack.  Not the skaters at all, but like the vibe their brand has been putting out lately.  I’d leave too if NB wanted me.

Fully agree. Most people on vans is cool. But damn the quality is trash last few years and they just seem tired as hell. Also the missed opportunity with the boss was a huge mis step. Some color ways  are just so cringey.

Vans is slowly dying

They reached critical mass and abandoned their counter culture aesthetic and are now up there with Nike Adidas and Converse. And their identity/image they had the whole way up was that they weren’t corporate. Now it’s hard to hide the truth when every third mall has a Vans store.

I dunno, I kinda picked up that he seemed bummed on Vans for a while. Not surprised by this.

How so?

If he really cares about his fits as much I think he does, he won’t go to NB

they'll make a shoe catered to him, the tom Knox shoes aint that bad for him , although nb has bad politics but whatever

shouldn't

the knox is mainly good because it’s all black &the giant logo on the side is harder to identify. they need a different idea of a logo specifically for skate shoes on the side, that’s my only problem with nb, other than that the shoes look great.

One of their vps was praising trump years ago and they got some bad publicity. But given they’re one of the only big shoe companies who still manufacture in the us I’d say they’re at least pro worker to an extent which is better politics than 99% of us corporations.

I feel like the direction New Balance has taken with Aime Leon Dore and Kith collabs suits his style.
Defs could see him in the 550’s and the 990 series.
NB is wayyyyy more finger on the pulse of what’s popular than Vans is.

I saw Ms Armanto was rocking a pair of Vans, that may go down well with the kids, but wouldn't go down well with the "core skate bros".

facts. NB has had the best looking sneakers on the market for years now. their only problem is shaking the 'lolololololol nice dad shoes!' stigma they get from dumbasses.

Most NB’s are made in China.

Has NB built a skatepark anywhere?
Vans has.

Ah yes, Vans.  The corporation that frequently opens up skateshop’s down the street from skater owned skateshops.  Truly “off the wall” behavior.

If you try to take a moral environmental stance in skateboarding an activity using dead trees, glues, and plastic you are going to lose.
