Most don't even have a website. It's 1 page shopify.

Exactly!

Thats the case with Fucking Awesome, Violet and 917 for exemple.

You must go to their instagram and search for it...a truly generation Z thing...

Its like they are so cool that they dont even care to have a proper website, but they do care about selling their product to make money.

Websites don't really generate hits and sales anymore... insta and tik tok are where people go to find out about brands.

Websites are becoming obsolete for a lot of industries

If I want to know which skaters bring legitimacy to a brand, I don't want to have to be some insta-detective.

If I had a board brand, it’s website would be like homestar runner where you could find a bunch of hidden Easter eggs by moving your mouse around and clicking on stuff.  Kids go wild for that shit.

It's not cool to list a team, it's not cool to put their names in a video edit. It's all about the brand! Buy from us! Fuck who's reppin' it.  :-X

April shows their team: https://aprilskateboards.com/pages/team

Thank You does too. But I agree, it’s lame not to show who rides for you. Usually a sign of a bloated team, IMHO.

I don't think April and Thank You are the new trendy skate companies that OP is on about...

First off - if you think that 917 is one of those trendy new companies, you are probably a couple of years too late and kind of out of touch anyways.

Second - as if skateboarding was never about selling goods. All videos and clothes were always Marketing tools in order to making money. Money to produce boards, to support riders, to earn a living. Sure thing - teams were an important part in that. Now it’s the vibe selling things, less the team.

I can't stand when they put 'in order of appearance' in the credits versus just crediting the skater during their part or when they're on scree . The funny thing is I feel like the biggest perpetrators are brands where all their skaters are indiscernible from one another, like hill bombers in SF.

OP mentioned a dying company with a team that mostly doesn't even skate anymore (FA) and a company that doesn't even exist anymore (917).

yea like why can't topps just issue some skateboard company trading cards so we can keep track of who's who?  they could put their name and stats on there, their sponsors, if they've been cancelled and when.  im still looking to trade someone for a 2022 soty hologram card

This forum is full of pretentious nerds that can't even have a normal discussion and instead they try to be funny without really being it, it's really just sad.

Especially when the videos are just one long montage with no names of the team riders.
I’m not letting my YouTube algorithm anywhere near that video.

I visit/use this forum because I like skateboarding and I like to be up to the news of the industry and this is a good place for it, but sometimes it really makes me sick some of the replies I see from most of its users.

I don't think most users are teenagers, they are just grown men who haven't really grown up mentally.

Also Real, Primitive, April,  Polar, Adidas, Nike SB and DC shoes have.

Baker don't have, but they have an ad section and I can know who their team is by it.

That I definitely had back in 1998.

I had the first Kareem black/gum model.

They were stylish but they were expensive and the quality was shit.
