He was super dope indeed.
Not sure if it was ego, mental health, drugs or a combination of that took him down, but it’s a damn shame whatever it was.
He is def an all time style guy for the books.

Also, very happy he introduced me to Cymande.

Yeah and then Real came out with that ad that said something like “I guess we do press releases now when team riders quit, back in my day we would’ve blah blah blah”. I’m paraphrasing. The ad was lame and it was pretty much the last I heard from Darrell at that time, Plan B did basically nothing for him

Plan B 2.0 was a massive turd that ruined the careers of almost everyone involved. This dude had nollie front blunts on handrails and multiple NBDs on cliipper, his style was too good

Went to a Volcom demo once and he just sat on the couch the whole time (I think it was like zumies couch tour or something, they had a couch outside in like 100 degree weather). I wished he would have skated so bad. It was still rad seeing rowley and caswell though.
I love his style though. His roll forever part was on constant repeat for me. That clipper cover is insane.

My brain is telling me switch back 180's were his move.  Maybe my brain is playing tricks on me?  Maybe he had both of them down really good.  I was really young back then, but I only remember him for his sw back 180s.

I don't think I can pay the man a higher compliment when it comes to style in that he's the only person who made a Dolphin flip actually look like a good/decent trick.

nollie bs noseblunt and ollie over to fs blunt (I guess?) Clipper, first to do nollie heel back lip down a sizable rail, first do sw bs bigspins down big sets, biggest nollies and sw bs 180s,... he wasn't around long but he left the skate world a lot to chew on.

unique style, but in someways actually reminds me of jerry. they both have a thing with their knees/shoulders that sometimes makes their reg/nollie look switch/fakie.

so much mad shit has happened on clipper, but i feel his two bangers kind of take it.

below wasn't mentioned yet, so posting in case anyone missed it:

That trio part is one of my favorites of all time. Whole video goes actually.

Used to see Darrell around a lot. Felt like he was kinda drugs fried (not confirmed just vibes) but he moved back in with his parents and it seemed like he was doing good again! Couldn’t really do too many tricks on the board though, couple front shoves on flat.

I will get a lot of hate but to me Darrell Stanton always seemed overrated. His style and trick selection are kinda weird.

Gailea Momolu had more hard tricks on rails and better style.

Love Darrell’s skating, but it almost feels like he didn’t have many flip tricks in his natural stance. It seems like a lot of his flip tricks down stairs were switch.

Not that there’s anything not gnarly about that, but I kind of agree a little about his trick selection. Also, he didn’t film many lines. Most of his clips are single tricks.

True. in hindsight they chose getting payed well for a while over career longevity.

lowkey the only one who really made it from that initial plan b super team was P Rod. i really wonder what happend with that, theres gotta be a juicy story behind it. like how could u have PJ, Wenning, Darell, Sherm, Prod + others and fuck that upp.
