Crazy that NB doesn't have further info regarding i600 on their archives.
Sir, I'm going to politely, but firmly, ask you and your common sense to leave this establishment.

Anything involving Tom Knox simply warms my heart.

The shape/style of his shoe reminds me of the Nike SB Zoom FC from way back which I really liked skating in.

Yeah that’s mind blowing. Obviously, that just makes me even more curious.

Great interview. Was also shocked NB had no info on their own product, so weird.

Driving me absolutely insane that the 8’s are upside down in whatever font Village Psychic uses.

Tom Knox pro shoe for 30 quid. Get 'em while they're hot:  ;)

https://www.hi-tec.co.uk/collections/mens-sports-shoes-trainers/products/unisex-squash-unisex-trainer-white

He doesn't mention it in the interview, saying it's based on some vague 80's NB hunted down through the mists of ebay. But Tom's shoe is the motherfucking Hi-Tec squash shoe a few bars out. Even down to the dopey 'INDOOR' / 'SQUASH' script slanted on the eyestays and heels.

Nah. That shoe looks like shit and looks nothing like Tom’s shoe except for the sole having an exposed midsole and the colorway being white and green.

It’s honestly scary how bad some people are on here when it comes to seeing differences and similarities between shoes.

So except for the colour way, shape, gum sole, overall aethesthetic and pretty much everything you both admit and deny it is a take on Hi Tec's Squash shoe. I mean if your butthurt about spending £90 on NB squash shoes when you could have bought the OG's for 30 don't worry! I'm sure the day drinkers you hang out with will still fucking love them dude.

I think it takes a particular mind to archive and save information as you go along, even for the corporate shoe behemoths we know and love today.
Similar to pros not saving their earliest or original models, unless they have a tendency to hoard, or see the importance of the product in the moment.

Years ago, GQ posted a video [since made private, sadly] and a short article on a few Adidas honchos followed a rumor to Buenos Aires uncovering a shopkeepers collection of vintage shoes - some models and colorways unknown even to HQ. It’s not an easy story as to why a man has forty year old shoe’s disintegrating in their boxes in his backroom, but it is a fairly interesting one, I think.

From a separate link:
Quote
Buenos Aires probably isn't the first place you associate with vintage sneakers, but it's exactly where one of the world's largest collections of old school Adidas kicks are located.
The sneaker giant documented its trip to a small shop in the South American city to meet a man who is sitting on a mind-blowing archive of '70s and '80s styles, bringing along some of the world's foremost Adidas-obsessed dudes along with them for the adventure.
It's a fascinating story of discipline and maybe a little bit of hoarding, not to mention somewhat of tear-jerker. Store-owner Carlos Ruiz explains he holds onto these shoes because they remind him of the family he no longer has, and that he feels like he is losing a child every time a pair is sold. Heavy shit for some sneaks.

The shoes they found in Ruiz's store served as inspiration for the forthcoming Adidas Originals x Spezial capsule, which is a premium offering of vintage-inspired Adidas sneakers set to drop at endclothing.com on October 25, 2014.

did you miss the fact that an nb numeric head found the original 600 released sometime between the 80's and 90's on ebay and they used it for reference? the hi-tek squash shoe was never remotely influencing the 600.

I said the colorway and the midsole (2 things) and you extrapolated that into 4 things (that you're wrong about) and then said everything but you're still wrong. I can point out more ways where those shoes are not at all alike than you can point out how they are alike. "Similar colors" is not an actual point as shoes can be made in many colors. The shape doesn't look similar to me, but more importantly, the paneling is not similar at all. The toes are completely different: the Knox is one panel, two layers - the Hi Tec is 3 panels, 4 layers, and a completely different shape. The Knox side wall and laces are one panel with the N on top, the Hi Tec is 3, overlapping with a toe panel, with the logo on top (and Knox's shoe doesn't have any text near the eyestayds at all!). The heels near the sole have one panel - congrats, but by the Achilles, aren't similar at all.

You should go see an eye doctor. I'm very worried for you.

Motherfucker I am a doctor and I diagnose you with basicbitchitis.

No but seriously what you should do is get in your car, drive to your parents house and ask them to put you back in the high chair, play you some Mozart and show you some flash cards because evidently they forgot to put 'basic pattern recognition' in your baby ass head.

It's the same fucking shoe. Same gum and green in the same places.

Go out to the pub and people are gonna be like oh hey you got those squash shoes! and you'll be all muttering 'Actually they're the Tom Knox sigs and they have a single panel over the..' but nobody will give a shit.
So you know I'm actually doing you a favour by suggesting you could save bucks on the Squash shoe. Youre welcome you ungrateful dick.

Find me this mythical 600 shoe. I want to see it.

But before you go look do you really want to spend your saturday afternoon scrawling through pages and pages of ugly ass new balance shoes from the 1980's to prove a point to some rando?

To me it just sounds like marketing and the conversation (probably) went more like. 'You know we have a British rider whose becoming a bigger deal. We should give him a shoe, with a british twist. What's from there that could do with a refresh?' 'HiTechs old ass leather and fabric cupsole the Squash shoe?' 'Yea that one.' 'Lets do a version of that. Fucking memberberries am I right? Can't fail. And if they want to sue we'll say it's based on an existing design that Magnum PI found in Paraguay. Nip that shit in the bud."

Well obviously you realise this is now a real serious conspiracy. Big New Balance hired an AI that went back in time and put that photo there to make me look like a chump. It's not fair I tell you.

But I'm going to be cool and agree to disagree with you all on this matter so we can all move on with our lives and accept that Tom Knox's signature shoes look a lot like Hi Tec's Squash shoe. We've all come a long way haven't we?

You'd think that when presented with cold hard photographic evidence that I even reposted a few times, that I would see reason and just accept it.

You'd be wrong: It's a fucking conspiracy. The 600 is a lie. The Squash shoes is the truth. I've even recruited a crazy Russian lady with dead eyes to help me turn this into a Flat Earth movement. We live in a shitty dirty post truth world and somebody has to keep it that way.

I've come around and am on the HiTec train because it makes sense to me that they wouldn't want Tom's pro model to be an exact one-to-one rip-odd of the HiTec. The fact that those two "different" NB 600s are so close makes me skeptical.

yeah the original nb600 was inspired by the Hitec squash shoe. Hitech was really big in the 80-90s..

Anyways the new Knox is in the same design category as the Hitech squash shoe. You have to be blind not the see the same design characteristics they share. I kind of feel like the design will look outdated in a couple of years..

That said indoor shoes in general are pretty good for skating.
