The blue vig on the Canon 8-15mm looks like shit

Been seeing the blue vig more than ever this year. Crop that shit out, zoom past it, use a fake vig, etc. It looks awful

Agreed - it's always confused me that so many editors don't do something about it, it must bug them too.

I made this video with 8-15mm and just made a mask that desaturated the blues around the edges which (to me) is more appealing than most fake vig overlays. It doesn't solve the softness at wider apertures but that doesn't bug me as much as the chromatic aberration.

Yeah that shit sucks big time. It was a bummer to see Davonte Jolly swapped his HVX + xtreme for some DSLR looking setup in his latest clip – flat colors and heinous vig in every shot now

I have found that adding optical distortion in premiere is the best way to get rid of it. You can film wider than usual, get rid of the vig, then it matches the distortion of the xtreme better. You can add a tiny bit of fake vig if you want. I agree it ruins footage, but it is not wide enough if you zoom in to get rid of it.
