How to quickly dry a spot
« on: December 20, 2023, 05:00:51 AM »
I keep having this problem in winter with wet grounds at skateparks and spots.
I would love to find a way to make 'em dry as quickly as possible.

This is the wetness degree I am talking about:

Is there a solution that goes beyond towels, floor squeegees and that kind of stuff?
(That just takes too long for my taste).

I am thinking about using gadgets like a leaf blower or a gas weed burner.
Any idea what works best for those scenarios?

Sweep (e.g. spread) the water out as much as possible. Spread it as thin as possible. From there, it's only time and heat that will work. Wind (e.g. a leaf blower) makes it go faster, but not enough to really make it worth it, IMHO. Sun is your friend. Try to get water swept/spread when sun is at it's strongest. I'm sure some kind of propane torch, heat/fire source would help, but I've never used one.

I keep a leafblower in my trunk at all times, which has varying levels of success in drying up spots.  If the sun is out and it's a matter of blowing puddles around, it works great.  The other weekend I tried using it to dry a wet manny pad in a covered parking garage and it was practically useless.  All in all, good thing to have on-had.  Highly recommend a spare battery.  They go fast.

Wow, great tip.

Get all the homies together and cuddle up on the floor to form a big blanket of heat and the spot will be dry in a minute.

CAT litter works to a certain degree. But be thorough with sweeping it all up unless you want some pebbles  of doom joining the session

Had these forever. Fucking amazing at soaking up water, then squeezing it over a drain or in planters. Then just wring it out, and it’s ready to suck (in a good way) all over again.

Thanks y’all. It’s been fun.
