i found his good and evil part a little boring and i don't see the fit with rassvet but it's cool that austyn stephens found a new home.

And Remy Stratton.

The only Russian thing in Rassvet is Tolia's (The dude who runs it) passport and a few riders. I think they all left Russia as soon as the war started. The brand we supported from day one by COMME des GARÇONS, so I'd say it's a French brand more than Russian.

Dude it’s literaly in the name ‘commes des garcons’ it’s French for ‘cum of the boys’. If it was Japanese it would be called ‘Gangwa Kawaksaki’ or something.

Fucking hilarious. "cum of the boys" is a good one.

It's a European brand with US distribution started by Russian skaters that probably haven't been back to Russia in a long time.
That's my interpretation at least. Remy, Cambryan and Austyn is a nasty trio omfg.
Actually dude who owns brand live in russia. He too got cancelled from russian fashion scene. Then he get into skate industry

To be honest looks like Austyn is already making a good bank from Former and is just going where his style fits.

But Japanese nonetheless. It was founded by Rei Kawakubo in Tokyo in 1969.
Pretty sure the brand did well in Japan for the first few years before showing up in Paris and where it was initially hated on. It didn’t start getting produced in France until the early 2000’s.

I think it's back to the original point of my comment. What makes the brand Russian/Japanese/French? I would say HQ and where the people who created it work.

For example: Sergey Brin (Co-Founder of Google) had a Russian passport and was born in Moscow.

Funny this is the second time Austyn's infiltrated a smaller, existing brand that have their own crew and scene going. I have a feeling he likes being the biggest fish in a small pond.

And before the company repeatedly gets beat up in here for being Russian, didn’t the company denounce Putin at the beginning of their last video?

Yup that was brave on their part. I like rassvet a lot. Their videos are sick. Their team is really good. They produce a decent amount of footage. I’m a huge remy fan so this is sick to me. I’m from New Jersey and I’d skate one of their boards. I think the shop closest to me has them in stock but I’m still running through my boards I have on ice. They charge the same price as any of their other boards.

Former is surf and skate. They have Dane Reynolds and Craig Anderson, who are two behemoths in free surfing. I’d imagine that they’re bringing in a lot of the revenue. Also, the Austyn/Dylan fans are kinda nutty: they’ll buy anything and everything that has their names attached to it. If you really wanted to, you could find a bunch of dudes on Instagram in the full kit emulating their styles.

Globe is also a sneakily large corporation. I’m pretty sure Austyn is not only a rider. He’s been in charge of their entire skate department’s rebrand, so I’m sure he’s got a cushy salary.

In Australia Former and Globe are sold at heaps of surf shops and clothing chains (Glue, General Pants etc.)  and sell relatively well. Havent seen anyone skate Globes in the wild but I live in Victoria so maybe might be a bit more popular further north.

How much of the rebrand has taken place though? Aside from Austin’s shoes, adding Chris Maalouf and Val Bauer from Rassvet. They haven’t added new shoes or anything. It feels like an attempt at a rebrand but only partly.

Never seen any former or globes in NYC. I think Austyns style has fallen behind the times and I'm not sure how much of a market there is for it anymore.

Former always seemed kinda corny to me. All the graphics looked like they were trying to rip off hardcore band tees. Why not just buy an actual band shirt for half the price at that point?
