Amazing skating. I wish I could watch it without puking. Trying to watch this on anything larger than a phone is a fucking joke. Josh Stewart acts like he's doing his own unrelated trick at the same time. Does he always have to take 5 clunky steps in the middle of every shot? The line with the frontside wallride, backside wallride scratch, did he just fucking run the whole time? Jesus fucking Christ. My criticisms actually come from a place of love. If you removed the shakey-cam factor from this part it would be goddamned perfect.

Definitely my favorite part of his. I used to not dig his shit, really do now. Ollie over fence to noseslide and the ledge lines at that dilapidated marble spot we’re super sick.

Coming from a guy that loves the VX...this is lacking. The upload is so bad,the quality is simply not there and if I uploaded this I would be bummed out.

Amazing part. Need to buy a Chocolate Trahan board ASAP (and you should too)

Still watch his 5BNY part by Tomboman all the time:
https://youtu.be/jEepfs0Jx1U?si=QQTMntJBBcIzeuN9

Can't wait for Josh to retire the VX and put his spin on HD :D It's time. With all the face zooming and slowmo in HD land right now there is definitely room for something different at 720p+. Just look at the new Magenta video.

dude reminds me why skating is fun. stylish and great pop. def on my list of favorite (goofy) skaters to watch, with Cyrus, Hjalte and Touz. have to agree about some of the shaky filming though. overall still strong rewatch value.

Amazing. But more amazing was that youtube went straight to Static 2 and that video was basically an Adio video with a couple guest tricks, haha. What a time 2004 was

Controversial opinion: I hate the way this dude films fisheye. Stop moving the fucking camera so much.

Not so controversial. Also, he swiped the intro song from Quasi Mother. That video didn't premiere so long ago that it’s fair game and it certainly isn't obscure enough that Josh Stewart wouldn’t have seen it either.
But whatever. Jordan Trahan is exceptional in this part. He’s got that loose style and his own bag of tricks and unique spots. The dude even can make pop shuvits look cool and barely anyone else besides Drake Jones, Donny Barley, and maybe Mike Carroll could pull that off. The Hey Jude instrumental was a nice touch.

Great part.
I disagree with the vx criticism, in fact I thought this was a really nice surprise filmingwise. There's a lot of rolling longlens in this part and the fish stuff is really dynamic, you can tell josh was working to try and showcase the spots, which I think he succeeded at quite well. Sure, it's got some bumps to it, but that's what happens when you skate rough spots and take some chances artistically instead of playing it safe all the time.

So good. One of the best varial flips I've ever seen at the beginning.

I don't have a problem with VX footage but yeah, the filming was a bit too jerky for my tastes. Like the tre flip clip for example, way jerkier and spasmodic than it had to be. I could barely see the trick.

Jordan Trahan rules. Great style, great trick selection and spot selection. Love the Static series and so far from the parts put online this one follows through nicely. I can agree with some of that jitter cam talk though. I value trying something different and trying to show more of the spot but sometimes you have to let the trick do the talking.

If chocolate could get their shit together how sick of a video would that be? Erik Herrera, Carl Aikens, Jordan Trahan, James Capps with some old head footage sprinkled in there.

Ewf my bad! It is I who needs to get my shit together. I watched it when it came out but it has been erased from my hamster like memory. Will definitely be giving it a rewatch.

I love the Static series but there was 1 section where the camera was whipping around too much for a single trick, no need to move the camera to show the ledge of stairs afterwards.

I think this part was great but there's some very valid criticism here. The fisheye angle on the circle bump to bump treflip was pretty disasterous. Just shaky as all hell. You can skate rough spots and still film well. Despite that I really enjoyed this but I think this could have really been brilliant.

Funny how different eyes see different things. I see a well-executed shot, with 3 distinct positions: overhead composition of the spot with jt rolling up, drop to get the trick from below, then a quick move to the forward edge to catch the rollaway while emphasizing the steep/short bank. @happenstance does this kind of shot really well. I agree that it is jarring, but I assume it looks pretty much as intended. Only Josh knows.
