Love park - Malmö version
« on: March 02, 2024, 07:24:20 AM »
Not sure of it’s been discussed before but the city of Malmö, Sweden bought a lot of the granite from Love Park and is now finally building a small street plaza with it. Pretty progressive that a city can find something like this.

Will be finished before the summer.

They brought this project up at Pushing Boarders when it was in Malmo in 2019. Back then it sounded like such a pipe dream and I thought after covid it was fully derailed. Nice to see that its coming together. Planning my pilgrimage this summer hopefully.

Wow. This may out-do Montreal's work to save Big-O.

How much granite is there to take? Didn't Josh Kalis take a load of it for his own park? I wonder if he paid for it or just nicked it, haha. At least it's being put back into skateboarding either way!

They took a giant streetlight too!?

That's wild man, really cool shit.

I wonder if the philly charged them for the materials and malmo just had to cover shipping expenses.

Either way, this is a huge undertaking.

Malmö is such a cool city. Like Obama used to say; they punch above it's weight. I live next to it and visit it several times a year. Good for them. I look forward to see it next time i am on the other side of the bridge.

though not exactly the same we have plans for a new skatepark and the city is giving us access to their surplus of granite blocks - mainly blocks that have been removed from public spaces.  So in essence we are recycling, which is giving our project a little bit of a green wash, which helps for funding applications.

Philly gov just tries to eliminate street skating. We don’t care. We just keep going. Either way, nice job Malmo.

god damn this is so cool. can’t wait to see all the clips there. It’s 2024 but it might as well be 2000.
The real question does this count as a street spot ?

All our fundamental understanding and definition of street skateboarding are about to change.
Experts prepare to update the history books.

Malmö is on the West coast of Sweden, so from now on Love park is West coast skateboarding, That position California previously posessed.
Malmö leading skateboarders Heitor and Oski representing the West coast style and taking over from PRod and Hawk

True East coast skateboarding (Previously Philly) is now Copenhagen, the opposite coast to Malmö.
Copenhagen leading skateboarders Hjalte and Ville representing the true East coast style and taking over from Oyola and Gall.

Malmö and Copenhagen, the new hotspots skateboarding.
