That's cool and all, but I can't help but think this would be way cooler if it was still in Philly as a new DIY or skate park or some new plaza instead of going overseas. Keep it local for the locals. Cool for Sweden tho.

Sounds like you’re really struggling here.
Philly didn’t want to did they otherwise they would of been able to, which is why this happened instead.

You'd think Malmö being willing to ship the granite to Europe would have been a wake up call to the city of Phill., Rhen again I wouldn't expect politicians to be smart or have the interest of their voters in mind

Especially Philly politicians.

But they would’ve done it for the right amount of kickbacks.

It’s just a bummer that the only way to skate the Love Park granite is to go to Sweden or become friends with Kalis and skate his indoor plaza, both of which aren’t an option for me. It’d be cool to keep some of it in Philly is all I’m saying. I get that there isn’t the political will power to use it so it’s going to more forward thinking countries. And that’s kind of a shame is all.

Not true. Paines Park and Front Street Park have Love Park granite. Front Street has one of the fountain ledges.

I am aware Paines as a ledge or two (Paines park kinda sucks tho) and there is that little spot with some of the fountain ledge, but I’m talking about a new plaza. Like take the new all-granite skate plaza the city of Montreal built last year with design input from the Dime dudes. That plaza is small but perfect. Why can’t something like that exist in Philly with the old Love granite? That’s a rhetorical question. I just wish there was that kind of mindset in the US. Best we get is a ledge plunked down in an existing skate park

wasn't aware of that new MTL plaza very cool. Main difference is Montreal Politicians somewhat care about skaters (example relocating the Big O) Philly politicians would rather all Philly skaters drop dead

The legendary Fred Gall is already skating it but I'm not sure if that's the finished product, but it looks like a miniature version of Love Park, and I mean really miniature I expected something else. It kind of looks like a disappointment :'(

Trying to skate an unwaxed ledge, is like trying to fuck a dry pussy. You need lube if you wanna slide all the way.

One country's trash is another country's treasure.
Malmo is fucking awesome, America could never hope to be this cool.
Hopefully not a kook, but if so, fuck it.

It's just the ledges up top on the 15th Street side.

Those were mad fun.

I think the walkway next to it is slightly downhill but the Love replica portion is level, which is why it's got a 1.5 stair on one end and a 3 stair at the other end

Classic Philly L (I am from Philly)

Especially if you have seen what Love is now: A flat empty block.

Glad someone is preserving it I guess but hard not to feel a little bitter

Yeah man it’s a huge bummer. City so obsessed with keeping skating out that they created something that’s not even useful to pedestrians. Just a flat empty nothing. Makes me sad every time I’m over there.

a shame all the resources to make paine's park when we couldve just recreated sections of love and probably spent less and people would actually use it.

crazy how the skate world went from skating old DCs in homage to late nineties and early 00s skating, to fully designing a mini Love Park replica with love park granite… in Sweden lol

The nostalgia is real. I don‘t mind it, but I‘d love to also see some futurism!

Do you consider LOVE Malmö a street spot or a skate park? Does it matter?
