Would there have been skatable spots in ancient rome?
« on: April 14, 2024, 10:32:37 AM »
I have a wicked hangover and I have spent my day watching youtube videos about ancient rome. Naturally I started to wonder would there have been spots to skate.

Imagine doing a line in front of the Colosseum when it was in its prime. Would have looked sick on vx.

Do they talk about concrete in the videos? I’m under the impression that ancient Romans were wicked good with concrete, though that could be a construction worker urban legend.

Some incredible balustrades back then, undoubtedly, but, yes, the state of the ground seems less than ideal.

Nah. All you need to do in Rome is eat good food and take shits in the Vatican. Visits churches and other places like the pantheon . Drink that free water and then get the fuck outta there cuz if you and try and skate any that shit they will fuck you up.

Bring out the huge, wide wheels that the SF bombers love, and otherwise skate inside churches.
I’m not letting my YouTube algorithm anywhere near that video.

there is a skatepark just in front of the Colosseum now. Really nice spot to spend the day once in a while. Not the best park but good view

Where did you skate, in front of the Vatican? I mean it's pretty difficult to skate in touristy areas or near some historic shit but other than that skating there it's alright. I gotta say people are too sensitive in Rome sometimes but if it's not a cop I don't care really.

Can't argue with that.

I don't see why there wouldn't have been spots, probably just rougher and harder to skate

I bet it's hard to get a session there, some of that stuff is is 2500 years old l, might be hard to wax. And I agree with other poster no clean concrete and definitely no blacktop. Great question to ask though. I'd love to hear from Roman skater!
