No screen shots or links.  honte à vous

It’s not the original from Love park, but another one made by Robert Indiana

Holy shit it isn't even the sculpture that was in LOVE Park. It is literally 1 of 7 reproductions made in 1999!
Dyrdek can collect any artworks he wants, but he didn't just buy the actual LOVE Park sculpture for a mil. It's fucking authorized replica!

Do you...do you think he knows?
Hopefully not a kook, but if so, fuck it.

My 2 cents; Robert Indiana's art is bigger than the Love Park sign. The auction isn't advertising it as "the Love Park sign", this is more Dyrdek's framing (or maybe even the way skateboarding-at-large is interpreting the purchase). He made many similar sculptures, and I don't think the artist would call this "an authorized replica". It's just a continuation of a series. Big-time sculptors like this don't build their own work, foundries do the work based on their vision. This is as much a Robert Indiana sculpture as the one at Love Park (though of course, the one in Philly is likely more valuable as it was made earlier on).

But anyway, rich man buys expensive art. I prefer this stuff on public display.

people really bent out of shape over this

I’m not sure why. Robert Indiana artworks are generally a solid financial investment.

Lmao.

I'm glad it was Markovich.
Also I hadn't seen this photo of Markovich:

"Kris Markovich, one of the first to start it off, is now the one to end it with the last ollie ever done down Carlsbad, just minutes before demolition on February 23, 2012. Photo: SKIN"

Surely not. Carlsbad isn't huge.
That's probably not even the biggest gap with a flip trick done by someone in their 40s.
Wasn't Brandon Turner like 39 when he attacked Wallenberg? I know that's not 40, but for comparison / context.

And Jamie Thomas + Duffel are both still actively skating in their late and early 40s respectively.
I know they're not going as big as they used to but Carlsbad sized ollies don't seem out of the question.

Fuck - Jamie Thomas wil be 50 this year.

People in here talking about it “not being one of the originals” there was only one at love. What other original love signs are you talking about?
Idk when that one in midtown NY popped up, but it was between 05 and 07. Love was def was still around but on its way out. Think it was by Zigfield, you could grind between the V and E if you croutched down. Pretty sure that thing was on the cover of Focus more than once.

NY sign was def a little smaller, that one of the 8ft retros from 99? It didn’t end up there until 06/07 tho, so who knows. I wonder how Robert Indiana feels about that one Rage against the machine cover for that album of covers
