I did until this past year when the price doubled and you no longer get a t-shirt.  I was down to maybe just flipping through one time.  I hardly read the articles.   Maybe a "people I've met" or something.

Subscribed for a couple of years (initially for the free shirt lol) never renewed after moving. I have enough issues for bathroom break perusal.

Yes. Gave my buddies daughter the free shirt. Still haven’t read the last issue. I probably should considering the new issue  will be here in a few days.

I subscribe but don’t always renew it right away. They still give a free T shirt with new subs and renewals. We were kinda spoiled for a long time with it being $18 for a yearly sub and a t shirt, it’s $29 now. Still not a terrible deal. Wish I made more money so I could subscribe to Closer. I really enjoy print and photos.

Still prefer reading print on the shitter vs my phone. Honestly it's not as good as closer or the other mags, but it's not exactly expensive as an adult.

I did from about 2016 until about a year ago. If I see an issue that looks interesting I’ll just buy that one but otherwise it’s not worth it anymore. Seriously considering subscribing to Closer though. I have the Rick Howard and BA issues and they are head and shoulders above any other mag I’ve read. Almost like a coffee table book.

I do because nothing beats a good skate photo. Videos are great but there’s something about the frozen moment in time that captures my imagination and fills me with wonder.

Yes. Not every issue is a winner but it's fine overall.

I go to the B&N near where I work to preview the new issues and see if I want to pay the 5 dollars. Sometimes a cover will do it, sometimes a great ad with a skater I like, and sometimes an article is great enough for me to buy, but more often than not I pass. It just feels really flat and not interesting most of the time.

Yeah having a print mag rules. The issues from 92-96 are my favorites and I’ll probably buy some off eBay sometime. I like art and print and it was a big part of my childhood so it’s worth supporting. I liked slap too in print but there were issues like the flip sorry issue in 2002 that just are burned into my memory

For sure, print is still king. It's always a pleasure to hear the white envelope dropping in the mail-box and start flippin' through the latest issue.

Also subscribe to Closer and the last remaining local mag, but that only has one issue a year at this point...

The last couple of years, my girl has got me a subscription for my birthday or for christmas. Its cool to get a copy sent to my door each month, gives me the nostalgia feels of reading them religiously as a teen....In saying that i have a stack to get through, been sleeping on them, i think Feb was the last issue i read.

Speaking of Burnett, did anyone else get the feeling that he's going through a midlife crisis after reading the features he wrote in the April 2024 issue (kf blunt HH16 cover)? I was never head-over-heels for Jake Phelps's editorial style, but I did like how he wrote from the perspective of being part of the crew he was with. Burnett has & still seems like an outsider looking in, and April's articles felt like he was very self-conscious about it.

My mom actually paid for me to get Transworld & Thrasher when I was a kid. I used to get so bummed when the cover would come messed up from the mail.

Anyway, no longer do. I recently opened a Thrasher & had no idea what I was reading or looking at. Everyone looks the same & I don’t know who is who.

being new to skating as a kid and getting a subscription must be sick.
I got one during 2016-2017 just to see what it was like.
now I just buy if theres a sticker page or a sick cover like the drop in at EMB

Not anymore. By the time I receive my issue, two more have already come out. I hate walking into a store, seeing the new issue, and knowing I have to wait a month before mine arrives. That’s what pisses me off—I’m a subscriber, and everyone else gets theirs, but I have to wait. A subscriber should get it before the bookstore. I don’t have a skate shop around; if I did, I’d just get it from there when they dropped.

I resubbed after seeing that Kader cover. Still haven't got it, but the shirt was here in less than a week....

Canvas is a solid featurette, and sometimes Seiben's section is pretty funny. Photografitti always.

Unless I'm hyped on the featured articles I usually don't read them very thoroughly
Wow sorry, didn't realise I was dealing with a sick cunt here

I used to for years but I let it lapse because it just isn’t that enjoyable to read anymore. Lots of filler content. The letters section is always super depressing to read. Lots of people that are locked up and sound super fried.

A yearly sub comes to around $5/ month and it's worth it to me.
