You right you can’t ultra cancel someone but I think there’s stuff to be learned about all this. There’s resources to help people in these types of situations.resources like the YWCA Finding help and preventing this stuff from getting worse is where DaBrinky really dropped the ball.

After watching GH’s video, that’s my biggest take away. DaBrinky set himself up to be called out because he wants control and wants people to pay the way he thinks is righteous. I think the focus should be identifying abuse warning signs and how to get help. Christine and Yasmin are examples where they couldn’t get help and if they were able to get help or talk to someone it could have been addressed sooner.

I think what I got out of this was that certain individuals got away with really bad behavior for a while and no one in the industry held them accountable. Unfortunately, the self appointed person making these people accountable turned out to be a really immoral person as well and took himself too seriously to the point he started attacking anyone and everyone who called out his bad behavior. I don’t know what Robert hopes to gain by continuing to call out Dane. Probably doesn’t want to let it fizzle out and wants to be known as the guy calling out the skate industry.

I'd mentioned on Reddit that I was looking into everything (as best I could as an out of state non employee) and he started hitting me up on IG as if I were definitively casting blame on him. I wound up blocking him because aside from having a full time career and life, my wife and I are caregiving for my mom... anyway, this would have been around the time of the 30-something posts about Andrew.

I always got the vibe that Rob Brlnk was a strange guy, even when I was a 15 year old kid watching Weekend Buzz. But now as an adult man I can truly realise just how depraved and perverted he is.

Those short stories on his blog and the way he wrote about Sky Ferreira as a child were quite disturbing. In no way should someone who publicly describes a 16-year old as a “V-Card holding model” after making serious paedophilic sexual innuendos be allowed to call themselves an “ally” (whatever that really means). This is really all I needed to see, GH’s video simply could’ve been a 20 second screenshot of Rob’s own “writing”, for me to form an opinion in this regard.

Skateboarding always has had a young, deviant culture. But Rob was always an older man in the industry who should have known better than to use his power and influence to stroke his ego (and seemingly, other things).
