Disassembly Canon 518 Super8
« on: August 30, 2024, 05:27:55 AM »
This might be a long shot but I can't find any guide on the internet about how to disassembly this camera. My lens somehow got loose and now the screws that hold the lens are inside the camera.

I know that I could buy another one since Super8 cameras are pretty cheap but it has some emotional value so I'd like to bring it back to life.

Have you watched either of these videos yet?  I think the camera design should be relatively the same between the models, so maybe the 1014XL disassembly video might help.  If the screws are inside the body you will have to probably have to take the side of the camera apart.  I think access will be on the side that doesn't have the controls.

I've watched the first one but he focuses on the lens while I need to work on the body. I haven't watched the second one, the cameras are pretty different but I could take some "inspiration" from this one haha. Thank you!
