The freedom to use drugs and alignment with libertarians make sense. I initially supported libertarians in high school for this same reason, but I couldn't continue this support long term with all the other policies the group had.

However, the Trump call out makes a little less sense. Trump praises countries that use the death penalty on drug dealers and said clearly, "I'm ready for the death penalty for drug dealers" https://youtu.be/4iyqZsE9bkA?si=_0xLEgughIN23roE&t=4040. His pardon of Ross seems not to reflect his feelings on drugs and how to approach them, but simply a give away to get cyrpto votes and people to buy his meme coins.

Also, the left has a strong history with wanting to de-criminalize drugs and led the way when it came to recreational marijuana. I wonder if word's meaning has changed so much that it no longer applies. I know Paul Avrich used the term libertarian when describing anarcho-syndicalists (https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/paul-avrich-the-anarchists-of-the-russian-revolution) and anarcho-capitalsim had been used in the past and is currently used by some of the most annoying libertarians, but I feel anarchism and libertarianism need to be separated, despite being two sides of the same no government coin.

Anarchism is a belief in individualism but based on the assumption of the inherent good of people and value of sharing, empathy, respect, and disdain for capitalism. Libertarianism is a belief in the individual, but based on the assumption of the inherent bad in people and value in greed, selfishness, ruthlessness, and unreflective love of capitalism. One promotes freedom via mutual respect and the other promotes self-protection though disrespect and distrust.
