Late Capitalism is a thing though, mate. There very well could be an end to it because ultimately it is a self-defeating system. The end goal of capitalism (if it is not heavily regulated) puts too much wealth into too few hands making it top heavy and unworkable and/ or it will exploit natural resources to the point of no return.

It's not just a matter of Americans continuing to belief in it or not....

Ya’ll. Respectfully, many Americans voted for machismo and that which they do not understand. Hell, we are seeing how uneducated Trump & Musk are in relation to how the government actually runs. The erosion of and blindspots in education are by design.

If you are sourcing your news from legacy media you are not getting as much truth. An acquaintance of mine went to a Bernie/AOC rally last week that was 30,000 strong & news ain’t say shit. We’ve gone local. There ain’t gonna be a march a la 2016 or 2020. Protests are more localized as is the mutual aid.

And to wade into the weeds, most Americans that showed up to vote last November were really fuckin stupid, yeah, but a bunch of little bitches sat at home and let this happen too. A lot less than 2020. Never underestimate our propensity for racism, sexism, and wealth worship. A deadly combination that most of the world is watching play out more obviously now.

As for the state of the Democratic leadership. It’s an embarrassment of bitches their too. They’re still trying to play by the rules of a game that changed too long ago. Motherfuckers. We all want them to step aside or stand the fuck up, but they got lobby dollars to collect and books to shill at the moment. Motherfucking fucks for sure. But A LOT of us are doing shit that the New York Times isn’t going to announce.

I've worked in state govt for about 18 years (previously IT, comms, and web administration for some education grants and programs, now healthcare- primarily HIV/STI prevention and treatment and harm reduction).

We already had a lean team in IT, but Friday we lost four people due to funding cuts. Been in a bit of shock all weekend... we lost some incredible talent that can't be replaced, not to mention they're just awesome people.

Everyone in the department has updated their resume in case of a new cuts. We're scared for ourselves and the people we serve.

I put Project 2025 into Chatgpt, asking if it was put into action, what would be the roadmap.  Understanding Chatgpt is last updated last October, it's chilling how on point it is with what they've been doing.  Asking it to analyse the end result and the point of no return, and it said it's based in a shift to Authoritarian dictactorship and will be beyond reversal within 6 months.

Grain of salt and all, but still, for something to just read it technically and output that is fucking terrifying how easily the keys are being handed over, and the potential ramifications for the world.

Just checked the dictionary for the definition of false equivalency, and this little diatribe was there as a reference.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

Elon on stage in Wisconsin while trying to give money away to influence the WI Supreme Court vote while simultaneously taking jabs at George Soros for interfering with the government is some grade-A irony.

My mother in law is 66 and retiring from her job this summer. She called Social Security to get an appointment and the person on the other end noticed her accent and the first question out of his mouth was “where were you born?” She replied “Jordan” he immediately told her there are no appointments. She informed him she is a citizen and has been paying into social security for 40+ years, all of a sudden there were appointments available but she would need to bring “proof” of her status in the country.

I saw a photo of the police standing in front of a Tesla dealership and it reminded me of Prodhon's famous quote, "All property is theft." I can't remember his entire reasoning, but part of his rationale for was it's theft because of the amount of public money (army, police, etc.) that goes into protecting private property.

I don't agree with burning the cars or harassing the avg person who bought a Tesla 4 years ago, but I strongly stand with those protesting outside and making it known that Musk is a twat and TSLA shouldn't be supported. Honestly, I think it could be great for the planet if conservatives started buying TSLAs and the left leaned into another EV or hybrid. I don't think conservatives will buy Tesla, but maybe they will.

At this rate, Teslas are gonna have more rights than women and migrants.

Proudhon was taking Communism(the Libertarian kind) to its logical conclusion when it came to land and capital, all of which was to be communally owned/ shared. It didn't necessarily apply to all personal belongings.

Finally, some good news. Glad David beat Goliath this time.

It is crazy to me that when we discuss taxes in America there is rarely a discussion of power. This man with his limitless amount of money simply has too much power. Democracy and capitalism are usually in a struggle with one another, one person with this much wealth can do insane harm to a democracy.

Also, what ever happened with the last round of lawsuits over his fake "lotteries."

The most recent attempt was tossed out by a sucker ass judge, which makes yesterday's defeat so unpredictable and important for the trump opposition.  I "knew" that republicans had this fuckin supreme court election wrapped, allow me to climax for a moment:

Cory Booker broke bitchass Strom Thurmond's record for longest senate speech, while saying some of the most important things for the people rallying against trump and his supporters. I tuned in for the last 2 hours and he was spitting. The man spoke for 25 hours straight. I can't imagine what my arm pits would look like from the immense sweat marinade.

Most importantly, the richest man in the world came to Wisconsin (for the first time) so he could buy a supreme court and he took an amazing L. The absolute loser clown stooge judge who supports an 1849 abortion ban (read: prefers allowing women to die from sepsis rather than provide the option to get an abortion/save their life) supported by the richest man in the world, was sent packing as well. Tesla will be asking Musk to step down in his role, as they should.

This is a huge blow against the threat of AI, this is a huge blow against people who want to redistrict WI to ensure that it stays a Red state, this is a huge blow against those who seek to use poorer people as currency. You may not be from wisconsin, but this fucks up moneyworshippers' days, so I consider it a W for US.

A skater friend is a professor at a local law school. He teaches (and practices), in Landlord / Tenant law. The school has grants with HUD and the VA.

With HUD, they do test cases where housing discrimination is alleged (e.g. send in fake applicants). That program is now gone. HUD has also dropped all pending litigation regarding housing discrimination.

With the VA, the school does legal work to help •homeless veterans• with various services and housing. That program is, also, now toast.

Fucking insane that there is a large group of people (maga retards) who would rather see some democrats lose over the expense of all of this. It’s literally “we’d rather see the world burn then see you guys win”

Also insane how these idiots are so clueless and swayed by propaganda bullshit.

Fuck all of these people. I also find it funny how they laugh that “those democrats are such hypocrites burning an electric car when they live their electric cars” yea and you dumb fucks hate electric cars and yet here you are with musks cock down your throat. Anything to point fingers. Pathetic

Every fucking time it is the same story.

Campaign:
"Why are we spending on [Ukraine, immigrants, international aid, etc.], we should be supporting [Americans/vets]"

Post-Election:
"lol, thanks for putting us in office. We were never going to spend money domestically to help any American. Pull yourself up by the boostraps crybaby."

I get why young people might fall for this, but anyone over the age of 28 has seen this song and dance many times already. Why do Americans keep falling for it?
