This is why I don't watch the news , growing up strict Mormon on the Island, the closest Mormon Temple was in Washington DC, we went to Washington DC every Summer to do baptisms for the dead haha
WTF haha I was a little boy telling my Father, Dad , I'm a dead man in the next life for converting someone to Mormon without their consent, at 10 years old , I had the fortitude to know not everyone wants to be Mormon.

Anyway.........haha
Washington DC is my favorite city in the world n seeing what is going on breaks my heart.

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2025/10/trump-officials-military-housing-stephen-miller/684748/

Trump officials are moving onto military bases. Yep, they’re for sure readying themselves to use the military as their own personal security and police for what is yet to come.

They are trying to establish the narrative that the left is violent and out of control, so much so that those officials need to take refuge with the military. They believe that doing this and then being able to say in 2028 that they had to do it three years ago helps achieve that goal. Where they live doesn't affect whether they can control the military.

Doesn't matter. If Trump were to run again, MAGATs who disapprove of him would still vote for him.

MAGATs in front of me at Vons (complete with a Charlie Kirk tee) just paid for their sodas, junk food, and meat with their SNAP card. They were short on funds.

Can’t make this up. Living with the reality of what they paid for.

Would anyone be interested if I started a thread that can be about politics that isn’t trump related?   Highlight rising progressive stars, etc

Pretty easy to shrug off the guilt of hypocrisy when you’re so used to shrugging off the guy you voted for being such a shitty president.

A good news thread would be fun. And it'd be a good collection of left wing wins.

Like, when someone says, Bernie would kill America blah blah blah, and be able to point to all the things he did as mayor that helped make Burlington the nicest upstate city.

Upstate/Western New York is so rough and struggling so hard, it is weird to see Burlington existing as a nice little city. Not quite as jarring as crossing from Plattsburgh to Montreal, but still quite jarring.

good news thread would be cool

Im not gonna lie im one of them both sides suck/are in kahoots ppl but im really starting to hate trump on a deep level. Idk if it’s even him maybe society, like this is your ideal leader?

Idk who am I to judge. America could be much worse. I fell out of paying attention to this stuff cause it’s too stressful but I realized I was getting dumb and maybe that’s what “they” want

One thing I really admire about Bernie is you can tell he real cares. I can’t think of one other politician I get that vibe from.
good sig coming soon

I'm still worried and the math for the mid-terms is getting harder as Republicans are redistricting.

Kinda sorta.. At this point democracy is won with every election. There’s lower voter turnout in odd-numbered years but I won’t presume that’s the case tonight. Look, we had the Blue Wave of 2018 and then what? Some people phoned it in as if that was all that was asked of us, say, until we needed to protest a nazi and an impeached, felonious buffoon of a second-term president.

There are great, positive wins every election, as there are tonight, but the work never stops and never ends, and it’s more than casting a vote. And there are still plenty of democrats in charge or in the party that need to be shown the door.

Well blue wave of 18 led to Biden win of 2020, but I understand your point

DNC can no longer afford to run on maintaining norms if people don’t think the norms work.   Morons like Schumer think all they need to do is be the sensible vote while still ignorin the 2024 was less about trump for most and more trying an answer that was different and these two idiots leading our party cannot understand th fundamental reason Zohran won was by addressing specifically those issues while educating voters and at the same time treating them as adults

Biden win in 2020 led to favorable midterm results in 2022. Issue in 2024 was that we had a bad candidate

For now.

We're just in the FO part of the FAFO cycle. Then people will get complacent again. Expect more from Dems. Then sit out the next election because even though Dems will do damage control and make things better, they'll be condemned for not fixing everything right away. Then GOP will take over again, screw everyone over, and make lives worse. Then people will finally vote again after FOing.

progressives need to learn how to celebrate wins and stop lamenting things that arent accomplished yet and/or tormenting themselves with paranoid visions of a hopeless future.

GOP: Hey, no fair! The democrats shared an out of context photo to suggest that the President who tore down the east wing of the White House to build a golden ballroom during a month long government shutdown doesn't care about anyone but himself!

SCOTUS just overturned the order that forced Trump to distribute SNAP benefits.

I hope every foodbank asks people who they voted for and directs Trump voters to the dumpsters.

How much does it cost to feed a family of 4 or 5 these days if you dine out? I go out with just my gf and it is about $70-$80. You heads of big households must be feeling it...

Order to overturn was written by Justice Jackson
