Thanks that was a good read.

Met Aaron when he came into town on a Vans tour. I got to drive him around with Cardiel and Omar H. Super down to earth, humble dude who was down for any skate spot. He was already off Zero by then, and I want to say he was on 151. I asked him what happened with Zero and he talked about feeling too much pressure to film...

Wade Burkitt in his prime was just bonkers, no one was on his level! Sucks there isn’t more footage of him out there, but that’s how he rolled …

Yeah, I think he is in the One Fifty One video...Possibly.

Fuck man, Wade Burkitt was so sick. I'd love to see more of him.
I like that in the interview, they mention that he did the eagle graphic. I always heard that Wade came up with a lot of the brand identity for Zero and there was some beef as Jamie just took it and ran.

Random side note: Bumped into Wade once in my life. It was around 2003 at a contest in Sydney, Australia. They had a food hall for the skaters, massages...and a table with skate tools and free grip.
I saw him outside the food hall and for some reason, we started talking. He then told me about the free grip as he'd already bagged up a roll for himself.
He recommended that I grab one, too.
Legend.
I didn't grab a roll.
Not-Legend.

yeah JT was Defs poaching a lot of his artwork, that’s for sure. I think his brand PIST (his PIST graff was one of the first of the bigger pieces Keirle park in Manly) was also sorta proto-piss drunx in a way, and Dustin for sure knew about him, everyone in Australian skateboarding did because he was like our version of Tom Penny. To this day I have never seen someone skate with so much power, I’ve witnessed him dent solid coping :0

I'd get to watch Wade skate sometimes in the 90s and it was always fucked.  Such a sick talent.  I'd imagine Mike O'Meally would have more footage or at least a bunch of photos, because he always seemed to be around too.

Thrasher used to have a weekly trivia question on the website like 24 years ago. One time the question was "name a skater who has skated for three companies with a number in the name".

Zero, 151, Room 21. Thank you Aaron Harrison for indirectly getting me a free deck.

100% correct
Wade was incredible, effortless & honestly didn't seem to care....his skating just flowed because of it.
I had a pair of PIST jeans in 94/95

O’’Meally would have a tonne of photos of him, not sure about footy though.
Actually I remember him shooting Wade at Manly one day and for like a whole hour he’s just clicking pics and saying, “yeah Wade”, “sick Wade” the whole time because it was just banger after banger. Now I want some PIST jeans…

Wade went on a self guided /funded world tour when he was on Powell, I only know this from the older skaters in my town who he stayed with. One day in probably the late 1980's Wade appears in town via train goes to the local spot across the street from the Railway Station and meets local skaters, stays the night at their house, then is gone the following morning.

The older skaters in my scene only knew Wade from his visit and didn't know, about his Zero stint.

Gray Imp Sausage Metal yeah, Wade was a beast.  Also I remember an Alex guy who wore glasses who ripped too who tried to sell me eccies at Vegas one night years later.

[/size]You ever skate 'Clearway', the Manly youth centre thing?  They'd pop a few ramps in a scout hall every Thursday night and some rad shit went down, pretty sure Wade was at a few of them.

yeah, a transplant from England who came to Sydney and destroyed! 360 flipped the Martin place big three, also has a part in plebs. Straight up raver!

Do I remember Clearway? Of course I do, I’m from Manly. I would skate there, but it was kinda intimidating because there were always crazy good people from all over Sydney there. It was Friday night for reference, on Saturday nights bands would play there (Kangaroo Rock), that is until the balcony collapsed,
Fugazi played there!!! I have such fond/ distinct memories of clearway

Will never forget the first time I saw Wade's long-ass backside 5-0 in his part. That trick stood out the most for me in that video. I think of it often and fondly.

back lip at prudential (pop out in between the poles) is fucked if you’ve seen that spot in real life! What’s even more fucked is his slam at the end of mislead youth in the credits, no one in Sydney (cept Wade) EVER looked at that hubba as a spot
