Lmao, I know it's unpopular, and I mainly tell myself that to motivate me at the end of the day.
Like, if I tell myself "I can x", then I'll stop trying to improve that trick. Like, if someone were to ask me to kickflip first try and win $100, I don't want there to be ANY worry internally about whether or not I can do it. And after realizing that, I said "Oh shit, I guess I really don't 'know' how to kickflip then...".
Then personally I took it further by deciding it doesn't qualify as knowing unless it looks good.
Is this actually a crazy idea? I'm only now kickflipping over things....if I'm not able to kickflip every single time properly 5 years from now, despite all the work I put into them, then I'll eat a sheet of griptape on cam
