I understand the allure of ikp theoretically. But plenty of dudes have been dipping TF outta their smiths without them for a long time.

I feel like this whole kingpin clearance thing is like bearing ABEC rating. The people that care about it the most aren't even that great at skateboarding to begin with.

Plus, there's also something so awesome about a kingpin/nut ground down to the point that they become one.

Idk.

And on top of all that, there always seems to be some issues with these ikp trucks. Just not worth it imo.

Not sure if that was a rant but I do agree.
Every couple of years everyone's all about the ikp again but seem to forget they already tried this 10 times and it never really worked right. Truck width probably held back good smiths more than kingpins. People's smiths improved as soon as the average board went over 8 inches wide.


On the topic tho and probably not that unpopular of an opinion but those new grind kings are beyond awful looking and the youtubers they have reviewing them isn't helping. If they wanted to come back legit (well still not proper legit but slightly better) they should have just made their basic trucks but tried to go specifically for the slappy only guys and pushed the whole made in USA thing.

Filming a skate event is sick and it should be done by a designated filmer/filmers with real cameras. My point is that people having their phones out the whole time the event is happening so they can get a cool clip for their story is lame and takes away from everyone attending the event. Too many people dont live in the moment anymore.

I love filming skating more than anything but it should be done with a camera. Or if u dont have one atleast put some effort in the filming and editing the phone clips.

Not only to not wear corpo shoes, not Film at skateparks or whack spots, not do toe- or heeldrags, not do circus or illegal tricks, not dragging your hand, not film with the wrong camera or from a bad angle, not ride uncool boards from people who are bad persons irl, not wearing the wrong fit, not publishing clips on the wrong Plattform, not doing abd‘s or having bad style…

since i started this, i'll say, sure, in my (dumb) opinion. it's mainly the sociological/social context of using a space that's designed & reserved for small children that i find a bit distasteful -- even if a given playground is currently unoccupied or infrequently used. whatever tho. i've noticed it cropping up in random euro vids over the last little while, but i dont live there so i can't pretend to know if it's a less weird vibe to do so there.

I always thought Miles Silvas had some pretty fake style and was surprised when he won SOTY. He does this weird exaggeration thing after landing anything which I’ve never been stoked on.

i can’t stand the way he crosses his arms the exact same way before doing every trick. he has grown on me, but i still make fun of him for that when people like him too much. and i rarely rewatch his footage. that rough cut was major though.
