I don't get why people say the yoga mat thing was wack. Like, nobody will ever hit that handrail without it - that is certain death. So if AA has to get creative then I'm all for it... pushing boundaries and all that. I'm by no means an Andy fan, he's weird af but I wouldn't even have thought of that yoga thing so I think it was cool.

OK fair enough, let me rephrase. I don't get the hate - Kinda reminds of that series keen ramps did where they brought their pre-built ramps to spots. Like yeah, it's not really a clip that counts anymore, but when you click on an AA video u probably (hopefully) weren't expecting a traditional video part anyway.

That reaction has always perplexed me as well. I doubt he's sitting in an interview just waiting for the moment to talk about literature and his education. There's a weird disdain for higher education in the real world setting already, and it's bled over to skateboarding. 
People put a lot of their criticism on the interviewee instead of questioning why the interviewer thought the question was worthwhile. For example, pretty much any Nieratko interview has left me wondering why Chris would feel comfortable asking such foul questions to young, impressionable teens.

I was on YouTube last night looking at videos of skating in Peru since my wife's family is from there and I visit and skate there fairly often. Its fucking insane how good the local groms are in the main plaza that everyone skates and it kinda got me frustrated. These kids don't really have access to the filmers and spots we have in the States nor the long historical influence to help them craft appealing parts. The only thing that is really accessible now is IG and comps so that's kinda what they do and the talent withers away.

Meanwhile you have lots of mid-tier American pros that are pro simply because of who they know, how they are filmed or fitting a trend; or you have super talented lazy as hell pros that couldn't be damned to do what a lot of people out there would love to. People shit on David Gonzalez (I mean, he does have some wack style habits), but he's a pretty rare one to make it out of a Latin American country that isn't Brazil.
