I think it's peaked and already well on it's way to mellowing out, you can see it in the loose pant thread.  People made their investments though and so that's probably what you are seeing.

Every girl aged 13-35 is wearing pants which would have been considered “baggy” by a skater in ~2017, and I think that’s as good a sign as anything that the baggy pants ship has sailed.

I can’t skate in jorts, too baggy when I look down. When cut off skinny jeans became in in the mid 2000s, I was too ready to switch over

Ishod practically lives in jorts.
My favorite up and comer, Aimu Yamazuki, frequently wears shorts and I still lose my shit over his clips.
But...a part of me can't help but think...that clip would be even better if he wasn't wearing huge, goofy jorts and a Primitive x Guns'n'Roses triple XL shirt.
Or who knows, maybe that's a part of the charm?

I mean there's like a world of different options for shorts other than huge goofy jorts a la Aimu, but I agree that some of his clips might be even better if he wasn't decked out this way. Shorts in general though, they rule.

Lucas' shorts rule, and similar to Ishod I almost see them as their trademark at this point.

Been in and around skating since I was 8 years old, basically my whole life...

I still get confused about backside vs frontside when rolling fakie or nollie.

I also don't know which grabs are which. I can tell all the grabs apart, and I know all the names, but I don't always know which name goes to which grab.

Sometimes I know which grab it isn't.
Like, if someone called an indie grab a stalefish, I'd be like "that's not a stalefish, that's a....either a melon or an indie."

No one really even says backside half cab….and no one definitely says fakie backside 180….. this is just some fake outrage bullshit…..

You just say half cab….because we’re trying to make things easier….

We do say fakie frontside flip….why?  Because Reynolds help make frontside flips such staple that it influenced the culture which changed the language…..

j....soy....., I've always enjoyed and respected your presence here as an intelligent, even-tempered elder statesman, but on this one, small count you're mildly out-of-touch: alot of skaters under 30 don't used cab-based terminology and do say fakie b/s or f/s 180. That said, I think "full cab" is still dominant over "fakie b/s 360", but you have to be over 40 to say caballerial.

Also, fwiw it's interesting that you're under the impression that fakie f/s flip is the broadly accepted name for that trick when the long-standing canonical name is f/s half cab flip. I know that you're in Vancouver, so maybe it's a regional thing; I know that my European friends seem to say fakie f/s flip, and in accordance with the previous point, it also seems popular among younger skaters.

Personally, not using "cab-based terminology" will always make the hair on arms stand up, but over the years the revelation of how badly Steve sucks as a person has done the impossible and made me open to being cool with unceremoniously stripping him of his trick names.

One more thing, for fun: when I think of a caballerial/full cab, I think of a powerful, decently popped half cab+ with a semi-late 180, and a slower rotation. While fakie b/s 360 is the same trick on paper, the wording makes me think of a scooped, one motion, faster rotating version of the trick, like a Julien Stranger b/s 360 going backwards. Off the top of my head I've seen Touzery and Pedro Attenborough do them like this, but there's more.

I never write in these things but my biggest gripe with terminology is that nollie rotation is incorrectly named which then in turn fucks fakie terminology, so badly. The concept of nollie just being regular stance off the nose is so psychotically incorrect, I loathe it. Nollie is literally switch fakie, it’s not some unique or special stance just because you’re popping off the nose in regular stance; you’re popping switch going backwards.

Nollie backside flip? Go fuck yourself. Nothing about that is backside. Nothing. You’re literally doing a switch frontside flip riding backwards ffs. These 8th grade drop outs were so cooked and given too much power, now we all suffer decades later.
