Diy culture/parks are overrated as in skating in skate parks is the lowest from of skateboarding. Fixing spots is ok to me.

Parks are great for people who don't have all day to skate and in general can't break out for a session as often, especially if you live in a city where spots are sparse and spread out.
Saturday mornings I could go to the ledge spot, then drive 15 minutes to the bank spot, then drive 10 more minutes out to the flat bar spot and hope nobody is parked in front of them. I typically only have a couple hours to skate so that's about a quarter of my skate time spent traveling (and having to warm up again), so just hitting a park and having a mix of everything in one place works better for me.

I'd agree parks aren't as cool and I dislike seeing park footage in videos for the most part, but for the bare bones act of skateboarding the park does it's job fine for me.

yeah I understand that with adult responsibilities you'd want a convenient way of skating but that is the problem for me. Skateboarding is hard and skating in the parks waters down the whole culture. I'd argue that is one the reasons why skating is on a down swing. Street skating is what makes it interesting, hanging around the city, weird interactions with common folk, hard to skate spots, nothing is perfect. On the other hand parks are like day care centers where "rad" dads relive their youth, future Olympic athletes train, everything is perfect to skate. It doesn't challenge you enough. I know this is a big generalization and you can challenge yourself in parks too. Still I think it changes the dynamic of the culture if most of the skateboarding is done in parks.

Also I'd be way more stoked on the back feeble I did on a street flat bar than the same size park rail. Ever notice how much easier everything comes in skateparks when you've been out in streets?

I'll agree, let's face it those that didn't have that convenient "park" were sorted to contend with a ledge or manual pad. Not that parks aren't rad just wasn't something that we were used to till later on.

unanimous team approval for new riders is stupid and counterproductive, especially with how big board companies are now and how infrequently team riders might see one another. seems like i hear story after story of one person constantly monopolizing the process and keeping people from getting on a brand. be an adult, learn to get along and find common ground with people you might not immediately vibe with

I see it all the time at the park

80% of people over 30 at the park suck at tranny

I think where there’s a distinction to be made if that if you’re hooked up and under pressure to deliver, you get burnt out faster which is why it may seem that a lot of former flow and am folks move on. I’ll meet you halfway on people who obsess over wheelbases but with skating itself though, you’re always learning

I always saw it as, if you can backtail a picnic table, you aren’t done there. Try throwing it switch or do a flip in/out etc

Tbh so does baker now too but their team has kinda levels to it and it sorta makes sense to me somehow

Wondering if there was ever any team where I was hyped on every single guy. This is Skateboarding emerica was pretty close. Also baker up until around neen (almost the same team)

I always thought that was kind of odd if they don’t tag sponsors in their bio or certain posts using their products. Some people just like to be cool and have the mysterious aesthetic but that’s not really good for business on social media. At the same time I think it’s kinda weird when local kids tag everything in their posts or story. I guess it’s the modern day sponsor me tape.

i guess though i was thinking about it, and having so and so list their sponsor in their insta actaully probably isnt worth that much click through traffic at the end of the day. from what I can tell, the skate contracts are very specific and its like "have to wear such and such thing every day. need to shoot x ad and also do this content shoot for the website" etc. so they keep them busy lol
