probably not an unpopular opinion here but it seems to be out there is nike should part ways with paul rodriguez, i really can't see reissues of his shoes bringing in the money to make it worth it

nike sb has such a stacked team theyd have no problems finding another or several skaters to push and put more resources behind

I was living abroad so I missed his peak years, but I never understood how that guy got to the level he did. He's good but there's nothing interesting about him or his skating.

The fucking Dirty Dog is better than flying. I don’t understand why people get in airplanes unless it’s absolutely mandatory cuz of large bodies of water.

You get to see awesome sights. Meet more people and take more naps.

4 days on a bus each way is nothing.

Took a few days, but I got through this  entire thread. Entertaining, thought provoking, and enjoyable.

If I know Fleak, he most likely is. Would sure as hell make the Greyhound go quicker.

In the future, Deathwish has potential to be cooler than Baker. They just have to play their cards right. Just you watch.

I honestly don't even really differentiate between them anymore.

I regularly forget who is on which team.

This has probably been discussed, but the idea of an abd being bad is stupid. And here are some situations where I think it’s okay to use abs in a video part

You did objectively it better
It’s your signature trick that fans want to see you do it
Spite m
Homage/respect
You want to show how you measure up to a legend
Nobody saw the video the first guy did it in
The video that it was in came out before you were born
It was over a decade ago.
The person who did them first turned out to be a huge asshole

This is crazy. I’m not arguing against whatever grievances people have about Prod’s personality but his skating throughout his entire career speaks for itself.

I think he said on The Bunt that he was begging Nike for another pro model for the past few years and they kept saying no, eventually they settled on the re-release of his first shoe as a compromise. He'll probably be on Nike forever as a legend status guy, same as Koston.

I don't like him as a person but he can still skate, his Define part was pretty good for his age.

After Savier flop. Nike tried some legends like BA and Gino to put the skate program. But it only blew up with P.Rod joining  on the team. Its all about taste, to me P. Rod is one of most talented skaters ever (unpopular opinion here). Few dudes can do a switch back smith backside flip out on a concrete tall ledge in their 40s.

Yes. People talk about Prod on SLAP as if he’s “milking it” when his entire brand now is about his commitment to skating hard as he gets older.

skateboarding used to be about history, culture and a drive for progression.
The concept of NBD among numerous things plays a part in all that.

You did it better - better is subjective, time frame is important, show respect for past accomplishments
It’s your signature trick that fans want to see you do it - do it somewhere else, have your own NBD
Spite - ego
Homage/respect - valid
You want to show how you measure up to a legend - do it and keep it to yourself
Nobody saw the video the first guy did it in - grey area
The video that it was in came out before you were born - do your homework, know your history
It was over a decade ago. - do your homework, know your history
The person who did them first turned out to be a huge asshole - valid, remove awards/delete that guy

I saw a bunch of ABD on instagram seems like people trying to get hype of the iconic trick/spot than a real homage.

skateboarders nowadays is trying to get down all the unwritten rules and do what they want. This is good, but as culture skate to go far in his journey needs to have some fundamentals...if everybody is pro, nobody is.

I’ve seen it more than once people try to act like Prod wasn’t an incredible or influential skater. Hate on his personality or corniness but don’t act like he’s milking it or hasn’t been consistently ripping since he was a young teen. To add to the unpopular opinion I like Primitive. The collab stuff isn’t really my thing but I do like some of their other graphics and the videos are always top notch.

I remember talking about this idea before, and I quite like the thought of it.
A concept part of all ABDs, probably quite famous ones as a way to pay homage to those that came before.
