I feel like I've commented on the glove thing before. Absolutely no one looks good skating in protective gloves. Obviously Chima is incredible - I'm never trying anything he's doing and both of the clips I will mention are extremely gnarly, but he did that ollie over the stairs and gate in Spinning Away (pretty sure Kyle Walker 180'd it in Oval without gloves) and the Martin Place double set in gloves and it taints both clips to me.

I don't think I'd be as offended by gloves for fashion purposes, but gloves for protection look very out of place. Like if Greco wanted to wear leather gloves, or if Efron or someone wore Madonna style lace fingerless gloves, I could get behind that much more.

But AH clearly showed to be better over time.

Yall were not around for the end of Consolidated… holy hell it was probably a low budget that made it harder to get good riders but the graphics and humor they used was so goddamn cringey and awful.
I wanted to like Consolidated but it was really hard to get behind butthole face and constant poop jokes

could only speak for me but i have collab fatigue everything is a fucking collab, and it never seems like lets come together and create something new but more like lets double our audience for maximum revenue potential.

Also i kinda hate the anti hero logo and its big af and they just slapped everywhere on the clothes. honestly i hate all logos, maybe im a trend hopper but it seems like alot of people on the no logo wave rn unless they get paid to. maybe they are super ahead of the curve and thats gonna get played out and hypebeast fashion back up next

the video i can barely remember, skating is always fun to watch but it seemed like no thought or nothing just get a couple clips and interractions with the police and make sure that logo shows. idk maybe thats what its always been about

got a admit im a newb not even two years in the game so i dont know all the history but i never been into supreme, looked on their site and its says some stuff sold out i never really trust that stuff but i do hope it sells well and people get paid

Few weeks back I went to Eisenach, Germany: Birthplace of Bach and Martin Luther, creator of protestantism. There in a museum was a 17th century bible. Commissioned by some noble or king or whatever. Accompanying the stories were images, yet, instead of portraying the likeness of biblical figures, he had his own royal family portrayed as the characters.

When I saw that I thought about collabs.

I always thought Reese Forbes skating in a golf glove looked kinda cool.

consolidated definitely did not fizzle, i can pinpoint the moment it fell off drastically, directly after 'so quick achieved'

First, I think pads/gear should be used waaaaaay more than they are (unpopular opinion).

Second, when I see still photos of people skating the '80s with Smith gloves, Rectors, etc., I think they look really cool/bad-ass. But then when I see video footage of people skating in that era* with gloves, it loses a lot of the "still photo" appeal. I have no explanation for that.

*Tommy G. in Future Primitive, he looks completely natural skating in gloves...but it's Tommy G., and he is a style-god, so there is that.

“Going Bananas” is actually not bad. The Mike Peterson part is heavy, Kyle Berard has a decent part, Roberto Aleman has the ender.

The exact moment Consolidated shit the bed was on Epicly Later’d when Andy Roy told some kid at Derby with a Cube hat that Consolidated was lame, kid calls Birdo, Birdo shows up to confront Andy Roy about besmirching the Cube, asking if Andy wants to fight, and Andy says “No”. If Andy Roy comes off as the level headed one, you’ve officially kooked yourself.

I feel bad about Roberto Aleman being so loyal to them because he probably could have had a more rewarding career elsewhere.

It's interesting to see how local scenes are. Hardly anyone over here is currently running the AH dickies style, it is kinda outdated and gives off 2015 vibes. So I guess both of the examples above are not cool-guy, neither are they punk, but I agree that showing up with a powell deck and helmet is more of a idc attitude than the AH fit.
