Every year skate graphics keep getting worse.

Every year I care less about graphics as long as the base ply/coats are nice because I skate decks long enough to slide most of it off anyways. Decks are fleeting.

Colored trucks though... gotta look at those for a year....

I road almost exclusively on South Central boards this year and last year. That's just what the company that makes my boards uses and they're fine. I set up my $5 darkstar board from 2022, and it's fucking amazing.

i've been skating chinese shop boards exclusively for 14/15 years and i personally think they're great. some people tell me they're heavier, but from my perspective they cost a lot less than anything else, they last for ages, the shape/concave is consistent and i can get them basically anywhere (if for some reason i wasn't getting them from my regular shop). every couple of years i might get one that snaps in the first skate or two - i don't break boards, so those are obviously defective boards, but they're very few and far between.

I setup a Madness board a year ago from the liquidation sale and skated it from single digit temps to scorching humid New England summer temps. Even still the board is pretty crispy, hasn’t chipped, and has a ton of life left. It’s not my every day ride, but I’ve put it through some abuse and it’s still going. I’m retiring it just because I’m sick of looking at it.

I'm not so sure about the blanket term "Chinese boards"

But the resin construction dwindle/dsm uses is notoriously durable.

Albeit a bit stiff for my liking.

Before I had a preference for more mellow concaves and wasn't very concerned with stiffness, dwindle/dsm were my favorites. Definitely quality boards.

It’s the perfect complementary profession to skateboarding since they both have flexible schedules that requires a bunch of traveling. Modeling pays the bills/keeps you from being redpilled, skateboarding provides the street cred/a fanbase.

the prolonged wait ended up feeling like when you have a fart stuck somewhere down there and you're just waiting for it to pass - you pretty much know what it's going to be and it's annoying to wait, although it is a relief when it comes and there is still some mystery because you don't know how it's going to smell

Chris Joslin’s skating only speaks to the lowest common denominator of skaters. The sort of people that count the board rotations and stairs of each trick individually, instead of seeing the context of tricks in a more interesting part. The Bobby DeKeyzer Canadian ledge spanking video and the Aiden Mackey polejam video are way more interesting.
