Remember when he posted a story on IG with like 15 bricks of cocaine, 10 guns, and a shit load of cash? I think that better explains why he silently drifted out of relevance.

Anyone got a screenshot of this? Seems wildly out of character

Sounds more like Evan Hernandez
It was posted on here a long time ago, right when he started fading. I’m sure you can find it on here.

After some brief digging, I found it referenced in this thread.

This is what I’m referring to. The Evan referenced is Evan Smith supposedly not accepting SOTY.

I live in Nashville. I have for a looong time.
I don’t know Dee personally but I have been skating at the same places as him multiple times. I have talked to him and skated with him. He is quiet, laidback and very approachable. Damn near polite even.He is not a jerk in any sense.
The FU guys do their own thing pretty much to amuse themselves. Don’t take it too seriously. There is a lot of sarcasm involved. Shane is Dee’s brother and skated for Heroin at one point.
If anyone was at a park and they felt run out by these guys that’s on them. I can’t see these guys taking over anything.
Dee’s body was torn up which was a contributing factor to the whole Baker thing. He was recently getting some boards from Blood Wizard but I don’t know if that is still going on…last time I saw him he was on a Baker logo deck.

That’s all.

This made me rewatch all his parts. I wasn't a fan of him at all at the time but his parts are actually sick in retrospect especially as the general standard of skateboarding has gone down so much since it became a fashion parade. He has a good style and a huge trick selection

He's got a really nice natural style when throwing tricks down huge shit too, which always has value imo. Kinda wide legged on some of the kickflips.

I was run out of a park in Nashville by these guys, in the most literal sense lmao. It was during COVID and one of my homies was a local and they told us it was “more of a private sesh” and we should get lost. I’ve talked about it on Slap before so I’m not gonna get too bent up about it. It was COVID and everyone was  dealing with personal stuff so who knows if that’s what those guys are usually like.

shouldn't

i highly doubt some grimey skaters from tennessee vibed you out of their park because they were worried about you giving them covid… especially after seeing their little videos and hearing them talk. respectable that you give them that credit but, i think whichever way you took it initially is the way it was intended.

If it was at Sixth Ave it’s possible they reserved it…in any case, sorry you had a negative experience in Nashville, come back and we can make it right😀 .

I think its pretty well known the split of Dee and Baker was fairly mutual ,Dee had a lot of injuries and also Baker was not doing too well and had to let a lot of people go. Even Spanky was let go and he had to earn his way back on.

The Cyril Jackson and Dee Ostrander days of Baker were sick and a little underappreciated IMO. Obviously it’s tough because the company has had several dope eras and collections of riders, but as others have pointed out both of those guys are great skateboarders in the traditional sense and it’s in hindsight that I find a greater appreciation for their contributions to skateboarding.

Bake and Destroy era was the last time Baker felt truly “Baker” to me, including the new additions they had at the time (Cyril, Dee, Riley). I still love Baker more than almost any other skate company but they’ve definitely gotten the Strobeck/Supreme bug when it comes to new riders and general vibe.

For sure. I would rather see Cyril’s obnoxious grip tape and Dee’s should have been on Emerica style than any of the 90’s hot topic flow team ams they have now. Except Zion Effs. That kid has good style.

If Dee was really kicked off for being “too nice” don’t you think Theotis would have been kicked off way long before then? He’s been known as a super nice, friendly dude.

I'm sure the boss has been cutthroat but I'm gonna need a little more than he was "kicked off for being too nice" for it to be scandalous. Maybe back 180 variations down mountains only sells a small amount of boards and that's all there is to it.
